Action was heads up with on the board when Ganzorig Badamdorj checked and James Doherty bet 6,000. Badamdorj got out of the way and Doherty picked up another pot as he continues his upward trend.
Registration for Day 1c is now closed and the final tally is 391 entrants. The third of four flights brings the grand total to 835 entries and a prize pool of $434,200.
Day 1c will send 49 players to Sunday's Day 2 finale.
Players have stepped out for a 15-minute break at the end of Level 8. Late registration remains open until the end of this break. There are currently 388 entries in the flight.
Kyle Kitagawa was all in blind for less than one big blind with three callers and the board ran out and the other players checked it down before turned over , , and . Kitagawa peeled his cards one at a time to reveal a and a for a pair of tens to take the pot and stay alive.
"This will be the best comeback you've ever covered," Kitagawa said as he stacked up the pot.
A very short time later Kitagawa was all in again with three more callers. The board ran out but Kitagawa turned over and the pair of sevens wasn't good enough to beat his opponents set of tens.
The comeback was over, but Kitagawa still has a chance to jump back in before registration ends in Day 1c, and a fresh flight will get underway at 6 p.m. for Day 1d.
James Doherty was seen stacking up the chips of Cheng Saephanh as she was gathering her things to leave. Saephanh had showing and Doherty had . The board ran out with no help for the pocket nines and Doherty picked up the elimination.
Action was three ways with on the board when action checked to Ganzorig Badamdorj in the cutoff. Badamdorj bet 1,300 and Joshua Weinstein raised to 3,000 from the small blind. James Doherty called from the big blind and the turn was .
Weinstein bet 5,000 on the turn and both players called to see on the river.
Weinstein continued for 7,000 on the river and Doherty folded before Badadorj tossed in the chips to call. Weinstein turned over , but Badamdorj showed to take the pot with aces and fives.
Elsewhere in the room, Joe Stapleton has busted out of Day 1c.
Once the RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) wraps up its Bay Area stop at Graton Casino, it will to Jack Cleveland Casino in Ohio for the very first RGPS Cleveland, which will feature the $800 buy-in RGPS Cleveland Main Event with a $250,000 guarantee.
The Main Event will consist of three starting flights, the first of which will get underway on Sept. 29. After Day 1b on Sept. 30 and Day 1c on Oct. 1, Day 2 will take place on Oct. 2. and play down to a winner, who will get the bulk of the guaranteed prize pool and take home the RGPS trophy.
The RGPS Cleveland stop, set to run Sept. 22-Oct. 2, will also feature over $500,000 in guarantees and a handful of side events that will see the winner's taking home Championship Rings, which were recently reintroduced by RGPS.
