Fortuno Sends Opponent Packing Early

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

An early position player raised pre-flop and two players called, including Robert Fortuno.

The early position player bet out on a flop of {j-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades} and the next player to act flat-called. Fortuno responded with a raise and the early position player moved all-in for 11,700. Only Fortuno called.

Opponent: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Robert Fortuno: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}

Fortuno was on a flush draw while his opponent had top pair. The turn peeled off the {q-Spades} to give Fortuno his flush and have his opponent drawing dead headed to the {q-Diamonds} river.

"Couldn't get him off the flush draw," the opponent muttered as he walked off.

The RGPS Jamul Casino Main Event has a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000 and is expected to surpass that as players have three starting flights to choose from. Day 1b will commence on Saturday, Feb. 5 at noon, while Day 1c will get underway later that evening at 7 p.m.

Players will begin with a stack of 20,000 chips and blind levels of 100/100. Blind levels will last for 30 minutes in duration through Level 12, at which point they will increase to 45 minutes. The tournament allows for unlimited re-entry up until the start of Level 9.

Day 1 will break either after Level 12 or at the tournament director’s discretion. The remaining players at the end of each starting flight will return for Day 2 on Sunday, Feb. 6 at noon, which will play down to a winner.

The eventual winner of the RGPS Jamul Casino Main Event will earn the lion’s share of the prize pool, as well as an exclusive invitation and $800 seat and stipend package to the RGPS: All-Stars Pro-am Event at PokerGo Studios in December 2022.
