Day 1a of The $800 RunGood Poker Series Main Event at Hollywood Casino in St. Louis, Missouri has come to its conclusion. With 66 entrants this flight, a total of 8 players found bags at the end of the day in their journeys to secure a piece of the $200,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Leading the way is Scott Karas who ended his day with 570,000 after scoring a huge double when he cracked kings with ace-queen in one of the flight's final hands. Karas is looking to continue his hot streak as he is fresh off a win in St. Charles at the Ameristar Poker Open last month for $46,827. According to Hendon Mob, this is now his second cash in a RunGood Poker Series and hopefully not his last.

Among the players who took their shot today but failed to bag included RGPS ring winners William McCracken, Jacob Long, and Jaymie Virtusio, but you better believe you haven't seen the last of them.

Play ended with 28:00 left in Level 13 with blinds at 3,000/5,000 with a 5,000 big blind ante. These eight will return on Sunday at 12 p.m. and join the final players from the other flights.

Karas Cracks Kings for Chiplead

Level 13 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

After a player opened to 12,000 and several players called, Scott Karas three-bet to 48,000.

The original raiser then moved all in for close to 300,000 and the action quickly folded back to Karas.

"Give me some sort of tell," Karas said to his opponent after nearly a minute, and the player just waved his hand.

Shortly after, Karas made the call and they were off to the races in a huge pot on the bag bubble.

Scott Karas: AQ
Opponent: KK

Two of the other players admitted to folding an ace, but that didn't seem to matter as the flop came out AQ6 to give Karas a huge lead. The runout of 65 changed nothing and the monstrous pot was shipped over to Karas to give him the chiplead while his opponent was left shaking his head.

Left short, the player got it all in a few hands later and was eliminated.

After a limp from the small blind, Gregory Wood raised to 8,000 from the big blind and the action was back to his opponent, who gathered chips and popped it to 38,000.

Wood then responded by jamming all in to cover the small blind, who quickly mucked his hand in defeat.

"Yeah, gotcha that time," Wood told him as he tabled 102 while he raked in the pot.

Schultz Has the King

Gregory Wood opened to 8,000 four opponents made the call.

"Well, I don't know how i can beat all of you, I'm trying to think of a flop," Wood joked as the flop came out K9K.

The action then checked around to Scott Karas who was last to act and he bet 12,000. Only Barry Schultz made the call and the two went to the turn Q.

Schultz checked, Karas fired again for 17,000, and Schultz called.

On the river 6, Schultz checked once more, but this time Karas decided to check back.

Schultz then confidently flipped over K10 for trip kings, ten-kicker.

"He's got a king? You mean you called 17,000 on the turn with that trash? " Karas joked as he mucked his hand and the pot was shipped over to Schultz.
