Action of the Day

Saturday’s early flight saw 72 entries, with play scheduled to stop at the final nine players. However, hand-for-hand play produced a double elimination on stone bubble, leaving just eight survivors to bag up chips.

Among the remaining contenders from Day 1b are good friends Mark Brodsky (444,000), Akash Patel (318,000), and Lewis Wolfgang (172,000), who were seated next to each other while earning a spot in the money together.

The other players who will return to play for the title are Christopher Coles (254,000), Patrick Waters (172,000), Rob Gardner (155,000), and Cole Bankus (101,000).

From there, the spotlight shifted to Day 1c, which saw another 39 entries taking a final shot at joining the list of survivors for Day 2.

RunGood Ambassador Ashley Frank (187,000) was among the final four, while the final flight was led by Chadd Beatty (491,000).

Jonathan Ares battled back from less than five big blinds late in the night to finish with 378,000, while Brandon Sorge finished among the short stacks with 114,000.

Among the other notable names to take their shot on Saturday were fellow RGPS Ambassadors Nicholas Rigby and Alexandra Loveless. Rigby and Loveless took a seat in both flights, but were sent to the rail short of finding a bag.

Action will resume Sunday at noon local time, where the clock will have 26:13 remaining on Level 15 with blinds of 4,000/8,000 and a 8,000 big blind ante. Players will continue to navigate 40-minute levels, with breaks schedule after every two hours of action.

With just 18 remaining, the final table and largest portions of the prize pool will be firmly in sight right from the start of play. A full breakdown of the payouts will be posted shortly after cards are in the air on Day 2.

The PokerNews team will be tableside to continue full coverage of this historic first RGPS event in Central Pennsylvania, so don’t miss the exciting conclusion on Sunday!
