Life Outside Poker is a podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the 34th episode, Connor talks with WSOP free-to-play app ambassador Sam Abernathy about growing up in Georgia, studying design, the similarities between gymnastics and poker, finishing third in the 2016 Aussie Millions Main Event, and a notorious slow roll she suffered in that event.
Abernathy also talks about first getting into poker through the WSOP Play app before becoming an ambassador years later, motherhood and being married to fellow poker player Lautaro Guerra, who finished 15th in this year's WSOP Main Event for $450,000.
Adam Williams opened to 3,000 in the cutoff and made the call after Ashley Frank moved all in for around 22,000 on the button.
Ashley Frank: K♣Q♠
Adam Williams: A♦K♥
Frank was unable to connect on the 8♠3♣3♦ flop, while the 8♣ left Williams in front. The K♠ river was no help to Frank, wishing the table good luck on her way to the exit.
Gary Andrews opened to 2,500 from under the gun, and Alexandra Loveless three-bet to 7,500 in the cutoff. Andrews called, and the 6♣J♠5♥ flop was revealed.
After Andrews checked dark, Loveless continued with a bet of 8,000. The call was made, and both players checked the 4♥ turn.
Andrews checked after seeing the 9♠ river, and Loveless checked it back. Andrews tabled A♦J♥ for top pair, good enough to take down the pot as Loveless mucked.
"I got lucky," said Andrews as he added more chips to his growing stack.
