Hughes Scores Double Knockout

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 1,000 ante
Daniel Hughes
Daniel Hughes

It wasn't that long ago that Daniel "Donk" Hughes was down to just 4,400 and received a double up to stay alive, but now Hughes is well in the six figures thanks to this recent hand.

A three-handed all-in developed preflop with Mars Arcinas from the button and Jason Badeaux from the big blind at risk against Hughes, who opened from early position and called both shoves when it got back to him.

Jason Badeaux: J♦J♣All in
Mars Arcinas: K♦K♥All in
Daniel Hughes: A♦J♥

Hughes was the underdog, but it did not shorten his confidence.

"I'm going to win this. Watch," said Hughes before the runout.

The flop kept Arcinas in the lead when it came 10♦5♦3♠.

Hughes' forecast was proven correct when the A♠ peeled on the turn to pull him well ahead of both opponents with one card to go.

The 8♣ river rolled over on the river as Hughes scored the double knockout and now enjoys a big stack on Day 1d.

Cecil's Queens Fight Through a Crowd

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 1,000 ante
Ryan Cecil
Ryan Cecil

A wild hand broke out when four players were all-in preflop, with Ryan Cecil, Ryan Ashman, and Sean Doyle at risk against Christopher Lose. Cecil had the fewest chips while Ashman and Doyle were next in line.

Ryan Cecil: Q♦Q♣All in
Ryan Ashman: A♣4♣All in
Sean Doyle: 7♣7♠All in
Christopher Lose: 9♠9♣

Cecil may have had the least amount of chips, but he had the best hand as they went to a four-handed runout.

The Q♥4♦3♠ flop was just what Cecil wanted to see as he pulled well ahead of the pack. Lose was still in front against Ashman and Doyle, who needed to improve to stay alive.

The 9♥ turn cemented Lose in front of everyone but Cecil.

The K♣ completed the board as Ashman and Doyle were both eliminated while Cecil quadrupled up in the process.

Skonieczny Out Pips Ladny

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,000 ante
Chase Skonieczny
Chase Skonieczny

Eric Ladny opened from the cutoff before Chase Skonieczny opted to go all-in from the big blind. Ladny called and put himself at risk for 33,000.

Eric Ladny: 8♣8♥All in
Chase Skonieczny: 9♥9♣

Skonieczny held the significant lead as they went to a runout with the higher pocket pair.

Ladny found no solace on the K♦J♣Q♥ flop as Skonieczny maintained his lead.

The 4♣ turn was of no use to either player.

Skonieczny would improve to a set of nines on the 9♠ river, eliminating Ladny in the process.

Ladny bought in for a fresh stack to get back in the tournament.

Kopp Busts Hunt

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,000 ante
Kate Kopp
Kate Kopp

Jordan Hunt opened to 5,500 from under the gun. Kate Kopp called from the hijack, and Nicholas Lonzi joined the fray with a call from the cutoff.

Hunt continued for 10,000 on the 4♦A♥10♦ flop. Kopp opted to go all-in. Lonzi folded, but Hunt called and put himself at risk for approximately 65,000.

Jordan Hunt: K♦7♦All in
Kate Kopp: A♦8♦

Kopp had Hunt's hand in deep trouble. Kopp held top pair, and also blocked Hunt's flush draw, as he was left hoping for running sevens and kings to score the double.

Hunt would gain a slim possibility of that happening when the 7♣ peeled on the turn, but the river did not bring heartbreak for Kopp as the 10♣ came down to eliminate Hunt.

Hunt bought back into the tournament and started with a fresh starting stack following his elimination.

Toler Doubles Through Noel

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 600 ante

Cecil Toler made it 2,500 from middle position to start the hand. Robert Noel responded with a three-bet to 7,000 on the button. Toler was having none of it, and he chose to go all-in for 11,800. Noel called and put Toler at risk.

Cecil Toler: A♦10♦All in
Robert Noel: Q♥Q♦

Toler was well behind, but he had a suited ace working for him as they went to a runout.

The diamonds would be crucial, as the flop smacked Toler's hand when it fanned out J♦4♦6♦ to give him the nut flush and a near lock on the hand.

The 3♥ sealed the deal in favor of Toler as the inconsequential 5♣ hit the river. Toler scored the double, but Noel could afford the hit as his stack was still very healthy despite the loss.

Hughes Doubles to Stay in Contention

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 600 ante
Daniel Hughes
Daniel Hughes

After losing a significant pot, Daniel "Donk" Hughes found himself all-in and at risk for 4,400 from early position after Donald Brooks made the call from the next seat over.

Daniel Hughes: A♥4♠All in
Donald Brooks: 3♣3♦

Hughes had overcards working for him, and the flop gave him additional outs to a flush when it came 6♥5♥9♥.

The Q♦ was not the card Hughes was looking for, but the 8♥ river was one of his outs as he hit a flush to keep his stack alive.

Cerha Ships it on Turn

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 600 ante
Anthony Cerha
Anthony Cerha

The pot had grown to over 16,000 when this hand was picked up on a flop of 3♦9♣2♣.

Edward Tancredi bet 5,000 from early position, but he met resistance when Anthony Cerha raised to 13,000 from the cutoff. Tancredi stuck around with a call.

The 6♣ turn was checked by Tancredi. Cerha opted to go all-in for 17,000. Tancredi was not interested, and he folded his hand. Cerha dragged in the chips.
