Koeln Sitting with Piles

Level 16 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Marty Kinder raised to 26,000 under the gun, the player in the hijack three-bet jammed for 75,000 to put himself at risk, and Mark Koeln cold called on the button. Kinder elected to step aside.

Hijack: 66 All in
Mark Koeln: AQ

The flop came 595 with the hijack still in the lead. Koeln picked up additional outs with a flush draw on the 10 turn and paired his ace on the A river to send his opponent packing.

Green Hits a Flush

Level 16 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

The player in early position limped and Ron Green checked back in the big blind.

The flop came 2KA, Green led out for 10,000, and early position made it 25,000 to go. Green made the call.

The 3 turn went check-check, as did the 6 river. Green turned over 102 for a flush and his opponent mucked.

Borsky Sends Bryant to the Rail

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

After running ace-king into aces, Eric Bryant was left with just a few big blinds. He then got it all in preflop from the big blind against Zdenek Borsky in early position in hopes of spinning it back up.

Eric Bryant: A2 All in
Zdenek Borsky: QJ

Borsky pulled ahead on the 3J9 flop, pairing his jack. He sealed the deal on the J turn and the meaningless A rolled off on the river.

Steven Wald open-shoved in early position for 51,000 to put himself at risk and was called by the player in the big blind.

Steven Wald: AK All in
Big blind: 1010

It was a fair fight but Wald pulled ahead on the 5K6 flop, pairing his king. The turn landed the 4 and the river fell the 5, earning Wald the much-needed double up.

Bryant Keeps Climbing

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Eric Bryant
Eric Bryant

Eric Bryant raised to 25,000 in middle position and the player in the cutoff called for less to put himself at risk.

Cutoff: QJ All in
Eric Bryant: A10

The dealer made it easy for Bryant by putting out three aces on the AAA flop. The meaningless K and 2 completed the board and the pot was pushed Bryant's way.

Marty Kinder Shares His Love of Poker with His Three Sons

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Marty Kinder

PokerNews caught up with Marty Kinder, patriarch of the Kinder family that includes his three sons - Kyle, Ryan, and Drew. He discussed his own poker background and how his kids started winning at a very young age.

"I enjoyed poker ever since I was a little kid and then I got into it obviously when Full Tilt, Party Poker and all that was going, got into it pretty heavy. Kyle and Ryan, my two oldest boys, both had four-figure scores online before they were 10, 12 years old, so we've always liked it. I don't know if that was the best parenting, but I can tell you they know their math pretty good."

When asked what it means to him to be able to travel locally and play tournaments together as a family, Kinder explained that it's very special to him.

"It's just great to be able to spend time with them. It's something we can do together. I got three boys. They're all good poker players, and, it's just nice to go on a trip and spend time with my boys, and I enjoy that quite a bit."

To settle the debate on who's the best poker player in the family, Kinder had a very diplomatic answer:

"I would say I'm fourth, but other than that, it's a tie for first."

Marty, Kyle, and Ryan all registered for Day 1c, and at the time of writing, pops is sitting with the biggest stack of the trio. Drew had other commitments to take care of, so he couldn't make it out this time around.
