Aces Propel Smith to a Pair of Doubles

Level 20 : 5,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Mark Smith has hit a heater picking up aces twice in short order and doubling both times.

In the first, a player in early position raised to 35,000 and the player on the button called. Smith then moved all in for 85,000 from the small blind and both his opponents called. When the flop fell {j-Spades}{3-Clubs}{k-Clubs}, the early-position player checked and folded to a bet of 200,000 from the button.

Smith: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
Button: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Neither the {8-Diamonds} turn nor {5-Clubs} river changed a thing and Smith doubled.

Not long after, the player in the hijack raised to 30,000 and then called when Smith moved all in for 240,000 from the big blind.

Smith: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Hijack: {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

Again Smith woke up with pocket rockets and again he shipped the double after the board ran out {a-Spades}{a-Spades}{3-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{8-Spades}.

Just like that Smith went from 85,000 up to 525,000!

Nakonechnyy Flushed By Mahabee

Level 20 : 5,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Yaroslav Nakonechnyy
Yaroslav Nakonechnyy

With around 100,000 in the pot and a flop of {5-Hearts}{9-Spades}{j-Spades} flop, Nicholas Mahabee bet 45,000 from the under-the-gun position and Yaroslav Nakonechnyy moved all in for 435,000 from the cutoff. Mahabee hit the tank for a bit before making the call.

Nakonechnyy: {q-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Mahabee: {a-Spades}{6-Spades}

Nakonechnyy was ahead with top pair but he was left drawing dead after the dealer burned and turned the {2-Spades} to give Mahabee a spade flush.

The meaningless {j-Hearts} was run out on the river and then Nakonechnyy headed to the payout desk in 38th place to collect $937.

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Mark Smith
Mark Smith

A short-stacked Mark Smith moved all in for 65,000 from early position and the player on the button called. The blinds both folded and the hands were turned up.

Smith: {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Button: {a-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

Smith was behind but drawing to two live cards. He hit one too when the flop came down {j-Spades}{6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} to pair his jack. Neither the {9-Clubs} turn nor {7-Clubs} river changed a thing and Smith shipped the double.

Tishchenko Sends Yorra to the Rail

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Artur Tishchenko
Artur Tishchenko

Matt Yorra moved all in for 205,000 from early position and Artur Tishchenko isolated by three-betting from the button. Both blinds folded and the hands were turned up.

Tishchenko: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Yorra: {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Yorra's best chance at keeping his tournament hopes alive was to catch an ace, but he was left wanting as the board ran out an ace-less {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{9-Spades}{k-Hearts}.

Yorra was officially eliminated in 43rd place for $937.

Charlton Doubles Through Rocca

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Jeff Charlton
Jeff Charlton

David Rocca raised to 25,000 under the gun and Ory Hen called from the hijack. Jeff Charlton then moved all in for 90,000 from the small blind and Rocca four-bet to 155,000, which inspired Hen to get out of the way.

Charlton: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Rocca: {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

Charlton had the best of it and he scored the double after the board ran out {7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{a-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}.

Van Sanford Fades Rocca's Plethora of Outs

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Ryan Van Sanford got his stack of 120,000 all in preflop and was at risk against David Rocca, albeit way out in front.

Van Sanford: {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Rocca: {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}

However, the {j-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop made things interesting by giving Rocca both a flush and wheel draw.

Fortunately for Van Sanford, neither the {q-Diamonds} turn nor {a-Clubs} river cost him the hand and he shipped a much-needed double.
