Powell Finds Much Needed Double

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Reg Powell
Reg Powell

There was four-way action that saw a {9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} flop. Reg Powell jammed his remaining 3,100 from the hijack after Matthew Saari lead out for 2,400 from middle position and was called by Saari.

Reg Powell: {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Matthew Saari: {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

Powell was ahead after pairing his nine on the flop but had to dodge many cards for his hand to hold.

The {7-Hearts} turn was no help to Saari nor was the {2-Spades} river and Powell raked in the chips for the double.

Nick Pupillo
Nick Pupillo

Nick Pupillo opened for 400 from the hijack and was called by Lou Ojeda from the small blind.

Ojeda check-called Pupillo's 500 continuation bet after the {4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop.

The turn paired the board with the {2-Hearts} and Ojeda lead out for 1,000. Pupillo called to see the {7-Clubs} river complete the board and Ojeda lead out once more for 1,700 but mucked his hand after Pupillo jammed his last 6,600.

There was four-way action with a completed board of {9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts} showing.

Jodene Jensen checked her option from the small blind to the big blind player who bet out 1,000 into a 5,000 pot. Action was on the hijack player who raised to 4,000 and the button player folded.

Rich Alsup Takes Over MSPT's All-Time Money Lead

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Rich Alsup
Rich Alsup

According to MSPT Magazine, on November 3, 2019, Rich Alsup placed 25th in a field of 409 entrants at Meskwaki Casino in Tama, Iowa earning $2,767. By itself, that cash may not seem so significant, but for Alsup that was his 28th MSPT Main Event cash which sets him third all-time. But more importantly, that $2,767 put him over Prague’s Pavel Plesuv for a record $682,923 in lifetime earnings on the MSPT, now $1,711 ahead of Plesuv’s mark.

Alsup, who hails from New Hope, Minnesota, won his way into the MSPT Hall of Fame in 2018, at that time becoming
just the second player ever to accomplish the necessary requirements. His 11 MSPT Final Table appearances is also
a record — he has recorded a win, two runner-up finishes, two third-place finishes and a fourth among others.

His largest MSPT score was when he placed third in the 2018 The Venetian Las Vegas $1,600 buy-in summer event
that hosted 2,877 entrants for $273,430. His lone victory came at Meskwaki Casino in Season 6 where he bested a 410 entrant field to win $101,229. According to HendonMob, Alsup has just shy of $1.2 million earnings. Just 10 players have earned more than $400K on the MSPT. Pavel Plesuv, Michael Soyza, Blake Bohn and David Levine round out the top five.

Congratulations to Rich Alsup on becoming the MSPT all-time earnings leader and best wishes on continued success!
