Cervantes Doubles With Better Draw

Level 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Jorge Cervantes limped in from middle position and was raised to 3,500 by the hijack. ohnny Ambrosio called from the big blind, as did Cervantes, and the three saw the flop come {4-Clubs}{k-Spades}{2-Clubs}. Ambrosio led out with a bet of 6,000 and Cervantes went all in for 9,100. The hijack folded and Ambrosio called.

Jorge Cervantes: {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Johnny Ambrosio: {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

Both players had unpaired flush draws and the turn {9-Diamonds} and river {9-Hearts} changed nothing other than giving each player a pair of nines. Cervantes' ace scored him the double and he now finds himself back over a starting stack.

Pence Sends Mosier To the Rail

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Caleb Pence had opened under the gun and received four calls, one of which was from Rickey Mosier in the small blind. The flop came {5-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and action checked to Pence, who made a continuation-bet of 6,500. Mosier check-raised all in and Pence called.

"I'm behind," said Mosier, tabling {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. Pence turned over {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}.

The turn {8-Diamonds} and river {j-Hearts} completed the runout and left Mosier behind with no further cards to come.

"Yep," he added as the two exchanged pleasantries and Mosier made his way from the tournament area. Meanwhile, Pence now finds himself over 100,000 after the pot.

Tryba Shoots Down an Opponent

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Chris Tryba
Chris Tryba

Chris Tryba had opened in early position and was three-bet to 10,600 by the small blind. He put forward a stack of T5,000 chips to put his opponent all in for his last 30,000 or so. The player thought for about a minute and then committed his remaining chips.

Small Blind: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Chris Tryba: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

A few players at the table correctly chimed in with predictions of Tryba's hand prior to cards being shown and the small blind saw he was in bad shape. The dealer then brought a flop of {5-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{q-Clubs} to give the small blind one of the two queens he needed, resulting in more remark from the table. Tryba didn't flinch and the turn came {a-Diamonds} to put him back out in front, causing even more ambient excitement and leaving the small blind with one chance at a one-outer. It did not come as the river fell {k-Clubs} and he was eliminated from the tournament.

Tryba calmly tapped the table, still sitting stoically for another second before calmly reaching to his can of Red Bull to take a sip before collecting the chips that were shipped his way.

Vanstrom Needs No Showdown

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Jason Vanstrom was in middle position and opened to 2,500. Efrain Carabeo called from the hijack and action made its way around to the big blind, who defended. The flop fell {10-Spades}{q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and the big blind checked to Vanstrom, who made a continuation-bet of 2,700. Carabeo folded and the big blind called.

The turn came {5-Clubs} and the big blind led out with a bet of 2,500. Vanstrom called, bringing the river {k-Diamonds} where the big blind checked. Vanstrom threw out a bet of 13,500 and quickly received a fold, earning him the pot.

Moments afterwards, Steve Wilkie shared that he had been seated to Vanstrom's direct right for one hand. The two got stacks all in preflop with Wilkie having two kings and Vanstrom having two aces. Vanstrom held and Wilkie went straight to the registration desk to fire again.

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Keith Wright

Alex Montoya opened the action with a raise to 2,400 in middle position and action folded around to Keith Wright, who put in his last 6,800 on the button. The players in the blinds folded and Montoya confirmed the amount before quickly making the call.

Keith Wright: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Alex Montoya: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}

"They're live," said Wright as the cards were tabled. However, he watched the board run out {9-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{q-Spades} to leave him unimproved and out of chips, "Yep, eights did me in twice. Good luck, guys," said Wright, making his way from the room shortly thereafter.
