Bekavac Barrels into Chip Lead

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Dan Bekavac
Dan Bekavac

Dan Bekavac shared a pair of hands that have seen him rocket into the chip lead.

According to Bekavac, first, he raised {7-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and got one caller in the small blind.

On a flop of {9-}{7-}{5-}, the small blind led for 5,000 and Bekavac called.

On a turn {j-Clubs} which brought a club flush draw, the small blind bet 12,000 and again, Bekavac called.

The river brought a third club with the {7-Clubs}, but also gave Bekavac trip sevens. He called a final 20,000 bet from the small blind who mucked his hand.

About an orbit later, Bekavac called a raise with {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and made a better flush on the river against the same opponent to win a sizeable pot to push his stack close to 200,000.

Etherington Gives Some Back

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Billy Etherington
Billy Etherington

Deadwood bartender Billy Etherington has been building a healthy stack throughout the day, but recently gave some back.

After he raised to 3,500 under the gun, a player in late position moved all in for 14,200. Etherington made the call and was in a race situation.

Opponent: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Billy Etherington: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

The dealer spread a board of {10-Spades}{2-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{k-Spades}{6-Spades}, bringing Etherington's opponent a set on the flop, which held up.

Nonetheless, the popular local player remains among the chip leaders with half the day's field gone from the room.

Heiberg's Heater Continues, Bekavac Escapes

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Jeff Heiberg
Jeff Heiberg

Dan Bekavac and Jeff Heiberg recently passed along a hand which saw Heiberg's already large stack grow at the expense of Bekavac, but it could have been much worse for the four-time MSPT champ.

According to the players, Heiberg raised to 1,800 under the gun, and picked up no less than six callers, including Bekavac.

On a flop of {j-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}, Heiberg continued for 10,500, with only Bekavac making the call.

The turn brought the {q-Clubs}, and Heiberg bet another 25,000.

Bekavac folded {j-}{9-} for two pair, while Heiberg showed {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a turned straight, with a draw to potentially his second straight flush of the day.
