Veith Drops Rohloff with Better Made Hand

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Ed Veith
Ed Veith

Action folded to Ed Veith who raised to 1,500 from the cutoff before calling the 8,400 three-bet jam Edward Rohloff made from the button.

Edward Rohloff: {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}
Ed Veith: {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

Veith had Rohloff crushed and the {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flop didn't change a thing.

The {k-Spades} turn did bring possible chop outs but the {2-Hearts} completed the board on the river and ended Rohloff's tournament.

Hanner Scoops with River Bet

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

There was heads-up action between Jon Hanner from under the gun and Michael Winter from the small blind with a completed {j-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{j-Spades}{4-Hearts}{9-Spades} board showing.

With 15,000 already in the middle, Winter checked to Hanner who fired out 10,000.

The bet sent Winter into the tank and after some careful thought, Winter mucked his hand giving Hanner the pot.

Stone Shows a Lady

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

There were five players that saw a {8-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flop and action was checked to Nik Stone who fired out 3,800 from under the gun.

Only the big blind check-called, and the {8-Spades} paired the board on the turn.

The big blind quickly check-folded after Stone put them all in for roughly 15,000 and Stone showed {q-}{x-} as he raked in the chips.

Harrell Straightens Out Jordison

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante
Marc Harrell
Marc Harrell

Angela Jordison raised to 1,200 from early position and found two callers which included Marc Harrell from the hijack.

The flop came {7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, Jordison continued for 2,900 and only Harrell called to see the {6-Diamonds} turn.

Jordison slowed down and check-called the 7,000 bet from Harrell, only to do the same for 11,000 after the {10-Clubs} completed the board on the river.

Harrell quickly showed {5-Spades}{2-Spades} for the seven-high straight and it was good after Jordison tossed her hand into the muck.

PokerNews Podcast

In the latest PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway and Jesse Fullen discuss their recent road trip across the Lone Star State as a part of PokerNews' Texas Week, which you can read about in full here.

Along with senior writer Jon Sofen, the trio spent six days traveling to 26 different poker rooms in Houston, Austin, Odessa, Midland, Fort Worth, Dallas, and College Station. They also swung by Doyle Brunson's hometown of Longworth as well as Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, where "Texas Dolly" attended college and excelled at both basketball and track.

In addition to exploring rooms such as Texas Card House, The Lodge (where they touched base with Doug Polk), KoJack's, Red Star Social, Shuffle 214, Wautauga Social Lounge, Poker House Dallas, and Game On Social, the crew also stopped by some historical poker sites, such as the graves of Poker Hall of Famers Jack "Treetop" Straus and Johnny Moss.

The Texas poker market has grown leaps and bounds over the past five years, and if you've ever wanted a glimpse into what it's like, this week's episode is for you!
