Miroslav Atanasov Eliminated in 4th Place ($990,000)

Level 22 : Blinds 50,000/125,000, 125,000 ante
Miroslav Atanasov
Miroslav Atanasov

Joao Simao opened to 275,000 from the cutoff with K♦Q♣ and was called by Adrian Mateos on the button holding Q♦J♦. Miroslav Atanasov was forced all in from the big blind for his last 100,000 with Q♠7♥.

Mateos called a 225,000 bet from Simao on the 3♦10♦8♥ flop and then bet 350,000 after being checked to on the K♠ turn with his combo draw. Simao called.

The 4♥ completed the board and Simao led out for 1,000,000. Mateos tanked a bit and then responded by bluff raising to 2,000,000.

Simao didn't like it, but he eventually stuck in a call and was awarded the monster pot with his pair of kings — both eliminating Atanasov and leaving Mateos short.

Miroslav Atanasov raised to 250,000 from the cutoff with A♠6♣ and Nick Petrangelo defended his big blind after looking down at K♣9♠.

Both players checked on the J♥8♣K♦ flop, but Petrangelo check-called a 275,000 bet from Atanasov on the 10♠ turn.

Petrangelo checked a final time on the 5♣ river and Atanasov bluffed 775,000 into the middle. Petrangelo stuck in a reluctant call and was awarded the pot while Atanasov was left with just 100,000.

Simao Pulls into the Lead

Level 21 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Miroslav Atanasov opened to 200,000 with Q♣Q♠ and called a three-bet of 700,000 from Joao Simao, who held K♠10♥ on the button.

The 7♣8♣K♦ flop pulled Simao into the lead with a pair of kings and he continued for 400,000. Atanasov called.

Atanasov called a 600,000 barrel from Simao on the 3♣ turn and then both players checked on the K♥ river.

Thomas Boivin moved all in for 495,000 on the button and was called by Adrian Mateos in the big blind to put Boivin at risk.

Thomas Boivin: 4♦4♥All in
Adrian Mateos: 7♣6♣

Bovin was looking to continue his ultimate comeback story, but the A♣7♦K♦ flop immediately paired Mateos's seven to leave Boivin drawing slim.

Neither the 3♣ turn nor 3♥ river bailed Boivin out and his run came to an end in fifth place.

Thomas Boivin: A♥9♣All in
Miroslav Atanasov: K♥3♣

Boivin held the lead with his ace and kept it on the Q♦5♥Q♠9♦4♣ runout for the double-up.

On the very next hand, Atanasov raised to 170,000 on the button and Boivin shoved for 205,000 from the small blind. Joao Simao called in the big blind with 10♠7♣ and Atanasov called as well for a side pot.

Simao check-folded facing a 140,000 bet from Atanasov on the 3♦4♦8♣ flop and a showdown was held between Atanasov and Boivin.

Thomas Boivin: A♣A♦All in
Miroslav Atanasov: 9♦7♦

It was a perfect time to pick up aces for Boivin, but he needed to fade the flush draw of Atanasov.

The 7♠ turn and 3♣ river kept Boivin best and he was awarded yet another double-up to grow his stack to 695,000.

Simao Doubles Through Boivin, Who Then Hits a Miracle

Level 20 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Miroslav Atanasov opened to 175,000 from the hijack with 9♦8♦ and was three-bet to 1,400,000 by Thomas Boivin in the cutoff. Joao Simao then moved all in for 1,915,000 on the button, which got a fold from Atanasov, but a call from Boivin, who held a slightly bigger stack than Simao.

Joao Simao: A♦A♥All in
Thomas Boivin: A♠J♠

It was the worst-possible matchup for Boivin, and the K♣2♥8♠5♠J♣ runout bricked out — awarding Simao a massive double-up and leaving Boivin with just 15,000.

On the very next hand, Boivin committed his final chips into the middle from the hijack with 8♥7♦. Nick Petrangelo called in the small blind with A♥3♦ and Atanasov checked his option in the big blind holding 4♠2♣.

Petrangelo check-called an 80,000 bet from Atanasov on the 4♣2♠K♥ flop, but check-folded after Atanasov barreled for 160,000 on the 6♦ turn.

Boivin was drawing to a five only, and sure enough, the 5♦ appeared on the river — filling Boivin's straight draw to keep his run alive.
