Ivey and Kenney Clash Again

Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Punnat Punsri raised to 6,000 from under the gun, and, next to act, Bryn Kenney three-bet to 17,000. One seat over in the hijack, Phil Ivey four-bet to 50,000. Those bets were enough to see Punsri cede, as he returned his cards to the dealer. Kenney, however, responded with a five-bet shove for 262,000, which Ivey called.

Bryn Kenney: A♠A♥ All in
Phil Ivey: A♣K♣

Ivey found some help on the 2♥K♠4♥ flop, but that was as good as it got, as the 2♦ turn and 3♥ river completed the board, earning Kenney a double-up.

An Incredible 136 Entries in the Invitational (And Counting...)

Triton Invitational
Triton Invitational

With entries up to 136 in today's $200,000 NLH Invitational, it has now close to surpassing the record-breaking field in this event we saw at Triton Montenegro back in May.

On that occasion, Adrian Mateos raked in a career-best $6,370,000 score, and while payouts won't be confirmed until the start of play tomorrow when registration closes, it looks set to be higher again here.

Another couple of entries will make Asia's first-ever Invitational the largest Invitational in Triton history, and one of the largest payouts in Triton history, period.

Danny Tang vs. PokerNews: Triton Fantasy Update

Danny Tang
Danny Tang

You may have seen on our socials earlier that we decided to take on Triton legend Danny Tang in a battle of the fantasy picks in the $200k Invitational.

This writer was not up to the caliber of Tang's level, so we had to rope in some help from none other than German crusher and commentator extraordinaire Leon Sturm.

With play now through the first hours, we thought we'd check in on the two teams and see how Team Tang is going against Team PokerNews x Sturm:

Aces Cracked is the Order of the Day So Far...

Ren Lin
Ren Lin

Phil Ivey isn't the only big name player to have his aces cracked in today's $200k Invitational so far. Just ask Ren Lin, and against Adrian Mateos of all people.

Lin opened to 3,000 in early position, which Mateos three-bet to 12,000 from the cutoff. When the action returned to Lin, he four-bet to 35,000, and Mateos called.

The dealer spread a 10♦4♦3♣ flop, and Lin continued for 30,000. Mateos raised to 78,000 and called when Lin three-bet shoved for 226,000.

Ren Lin: A♠A♣ All in
Adrian Mateos: A♦9♦

The J♦ turn saw Lin drawing dead, with the inconsequential 10♠ completing the board.
