This isn’t a play you see advised by many strategy books, but it happens, and it happened here at the UKIPT Main Event. Under the gun, Kenneth Coote limped for 150. He got 5 callers including the blinds and we saw a 6 way flop of 
. The blinds checked and Coote bet 350 finding only one caller in the shape of Owen Fenwick.

We reported earlier on in the day how Irish PokerStars qualifier Tomasz Raniszewski landed a tough table draw with Sin Melin, John Eames, Ike Haxton and Fatima De Melo, and so it has proved to be. He was in a hand with De Melo and bet 525 on a flop of and got his call. They both checked the turn and saw a river card . Eugenio Verde opened to 400 preflop from the cutoff and UKIPT Galway champion Alan Gold three-bet to 925 on the button. Verde called to see a flop.
Verde checked and Gold bet 1,000. Verde looked at his cards.
"You got one?" asked Gold.
"Eh?" said Verde.
"You have a diamond when you looked?"
"No."
At that point, Verde check-raised to 2,500 and Gold folded instantly.
"Two diamonds then?" said Gold with a smile.
