Late Registration Closes; Record Field

Level 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Late registration in Day 1c has come to a close, and the 380 entries have made it the biggest starting flight of the Main Event. Just 150 of those remain, and they'll all be hoping to be one of the 95 players who will advance.

Across Day 1a, 1b and 1c, there have been 846 entries, 4,483,800 MAD (€422,621).

The entries from Day 1d have also made this a record-setting field for a UDSO Marrakech Main Event, beating last year's 861 entries. Late registration remains open in Day 1d for another five levels.

Bottom Pair Good for Zahir

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Sacha Ordelheide opened to 3,500 from early position. Adam El Bied called on his direct left before Zahir and Marina Mendy called from the blinds.

Ordelheide continued for 7,000 on the 964 flop, with Zahir being the only caller.

The 9 turn and 5 river then checked through to showdown. Zahir tabled 74 for nines and fours, which was good for the pot.

Nicolas Barkusky

Last year’s field of 861 entries at the 2024 Unibet Deepstack Open Marrakech saw Nicolas Barkusky reign victorious at the Casino de Marrakech.

Barkusky took home the first place prize of 705,000 MAD, equivalent to just over €65,000. Barkusky came into the final table with just 16 big blinds, picking his spots and staying patient throughout the final table as other players busted. Eventually, he found a few clutch double-ups and rode that momentum all the way to the title.

Dos Santos Doubles in 1d

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Action was caught on the completed board 98KQ6 with 50,000 in the pot.

In the 1,000/1,500 level, Eric Apikan led out for 25,000 from the small blind but was put in a world of hurt when Carlos Dos Santos jammed for 67,500.

Apikan knew he was in trouble, but muttered "I don't think I can fold," to himself. After several moments of thinking time, he flicked in a calling chip.

Dos Santos had J10 for a king-high straight. Apikan had K6 for two pair and saw his stack dwindle to 63,000.
