Set of Deuces Lets Engel Climb the Chip Counts

Level 24 : Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Ari Engel
Ari Engel

Ari Engel opened from the cutoff to 800,000, which was called by the big blind Lou Garza.

The flop came 286 and Garza check-called a bet of 650,000 from Engel.

After the Q on the turn, Garza again check-called a bet from Engel, this time for 1,900,000.

The river was the A, and after Garza checked, Engel bet enough to cover Garza's stack of 9,400,000. Garza went deep into the tank, using three time extensions before flicking in a chip to call.

Engel turned over 22 for a set of deuces. Garza showed AxQx for top two pair before tossing his cards in the muck and leaving the tournament area.

Level 24 : Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

Lucas Greenwood opened to 800,000 in the cutoff, and Jean-Noel Thorel made the call in the small blind. Miguel Capriles came along in the big blind, and the dealer fanned out the 2A4 flop.

Thorel and Capriles both checked to Greenwood, who continued for another 800,000.

After checking his cards one last time, Thorel let them go. Capriles followed with a fold, and Greenwood collected the pot.

Paul Mizrachi
Paul Mizrachi

Poker flows through Michael Mizrachi's family as easily as champagne, which "The Grinder" almost certainly drank after winning this year's World Series of Poker Main Event, and it won't end with the generation of brothers who have won 13 WSOP bracelets.

Paul Mizrachi, the 21-year-old son of the reigning world champion and recent Poker Hall of Fame inductee, is the latest Mizrachi to set his eyes on a WSOP bracelet.

PokerNews caught up with Paul at WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas as he prepared to take on the $25,000 Super Main Event alongside his dad and three uncles: Robert, Daniel and Eric.

Level 24 : Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

Alex Kulev checked the 8A5 flop from the small blind, with Igor Picone checking behind in the big blind. Sinan Unlu slid out a bet of 800,000 from under the gun, and both opponents called.

The 7 turn produced a round of checks, and Kulev tapped the table again on the 10 river.

Picone used a time bank card before moving all in, producing folds from Unlu and Kulev to earn the pot.

"Hippo Smells Bluff"

Level 24 : Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Martin Kabrhel
Martin Kabrhel

The reigning champion Yinan Zhou opened the action from middle position with a raise to 800,000 and was called by Martin Kabrhel in the big blind.

After the A10Q flop, Kabrhel check-called a bet of 600,000 from Zhou.

Both players checked the 8 on the turn, to see the 7 on the river. Kabrhel then checked to Zhou, who bet out 2,200,000. Kabrhel grabbed his hippo card protector, put him over the bet, and said, "Hippo smells bluff." He then sat there debating his decision before making the call.

It seems the hippo was right, as Zhou turned over K9 for just king-high, as Kabrhel turned over the winner with J8 to take the pot with fourth pair.

As he was taking in the pot, Kabrhel added, "Hippo told me the champion was bluffing too much last year, I had to call."
