And Then A Hero Comes Along...

After a flop of {J-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {6-Clubs} went check-check, Ludovic Lacay bet 18,000 on the turn {8-Hearts} and the elderly French gent to his left instantly called.

The river was the {3-Hearts} and Lacay thought for a moment before betting 55,000. His opponent immediately shouted, "Call!" and turned over {2-Hearts} {2-Diamonds}, Lacay turned over {Q-?} {8-?} for trip eights though and has massively increased his stack.

Saout In Trouble

Antoine Saout may be guaranteed over a million dollars in November at the final of the World Series Of Poker, but here in Marrakech he's not been guaranteed anything yet. The Frenchman is sitting with just over 30,000 at the moment and is currently in danger of missing out here at the WPT.

O'Bother For O'Shea

John O'Shea has been eliminated just on the bubble after losing out in two fatal pots that cost him his stack.

The majority went in on a {9-Spades} {2-Spades} {2-Clubs} flop when the Irishman held {10-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} but ran into {9-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} and couldn't get any help from a {4-Diamonds} turn or {K-Diamonds} river.

This left him crippled and he pushed his last 25,000 or so in with {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} over the top of Guillaume de la Gorce's 11,000 raise. Kai Paulsen reraised all-in to isolate and De La Gorce folded.

Paulsen: {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts}
O'Shea: {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}

Board: {J-Spades} {3-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {10-Spades} {2-Diamonds}

We're almost on the bubble.

Tony G Doubles Through Jim Collopy

The player in the hi-jack raised to 10,000 and Jim Collopy re-raised to 22,500 from the small blind. Tony G shoved for 90,000 from the big blind and the original raiser folded.

Collopy tanked and made the call with {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}, trailing Guoga's {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}. The flop came {7-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{5-Hearts}, giving Collopy outs to a flush. The turn brought the {3-Diamonds} and the river delivered the {2-Clubs}, propelling Tony G to 200,000 and dropping Collopy to 95,000.

Paulsen Doubles Back Up

Kai Paulsen has doubled up, it would've been harshed if he had got his money in dominating fashion again and lost. But the Poker Gods are giving him another chance after he pushed {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} and was called by Bennis Najib's {A-Spades} {J-Spades} with the board running out {A-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {7-Clubs}

Guoga Gains Ground

Tony G
Tony G
With the action folded around to the button, Jim Collopy made a raise to 7,500. From the small blind, "Tony G" Guoga quickly moved all in for 46,000. Big blind Yury Kerzhapkin looked to be pondering something sneaky, but he would eventually lay his hand down. Collopy, though, double-checked his hole cards and announced a call to put Guoga at risk.

Showdown
Collopy: {7-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}
Guoga: {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}

There was an {8-Clubs} in the door as the dealer paused for an extra heart-pounding moment before spreading it out {K-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {8-Clubs}, pairing both players and keeping Guoga ahead. The turn {6-Hearts} was a sweat as it gave Collopy the open-ender, but the river was a safe {6-Clubs}. Two pair is good enough for the G, and he's earned himself a double up to 99,500.

Murphy's Is Not Bitter

Kai Paulsen raised to 8,000 from early position, Nigel Murphy reraised all-in next to him for about 50,000. Everyone else folded and Paulsen quickly called.

Paulsen: {K-Hearts} {K-Spades}
Murphy: {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}

Dominated, Murphy hit the flop so hard he must have got a nosebleed when it came {8-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} and before Paulsen could even hope and pray for a pairing of the board to give him a glimmer of hope, the {J-Diamonds} came on the turn killing his dreams. The {6-Spades} was incidental and Paulsen has been crippled as a result.

Benjamin Pollak Rising

With the board reading {8-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{7-Spades}, Benjamin Pollak bet 12,500 into a pot of about 20,000. His opponent went all in for 40,000 and Pollak called with {K-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, leading his opoonent's {6-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

The {8-Clubs} turn and {A-Clubs} river were no help to his opponent, and Pollak is now at 235,000.

Boatman Set Adrift

Barny Boatman - Out
Barny Boatman - Out
The notables are falling fast here as the money bubble approaches, and Barny Boatman has just become the lastest victim of that trend. Boatman put his tournament life at risk with everyone's favorite bust-out hand, pocket jacks. He would run headlong in to an opponent's pocket kings, and a board full of blanks sent him pacing slowly out the door.

With Boatman's elimination, another table has been broken. The big board shows 63 players remaining, and the bubble will burst with one more table break.
