Spearing Spikes Queen

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Martin Spearing raised and then gave opponent Thomas Victor "an evil look" before the latter moved all in out of the big blind. Spearing figured he would flip most of the times and called with {A-} {Q-} to face pocket tens on the other side of the table. Victor flopped a gutshot but Spearing would find a queen on the turn to score the knockout.

"He then stood up, said nice hand and we shook hands," Spearing added. Another player on the table noted "I think he spit in them before" and Spearing laughed. "I thought that was for good luck." You gotta love the banter at the poker tables in the UK.

Mapley Increases Lead

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Joining the action on the three-way flop of {8-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {3-Diamonds}, Kenny King, Darren Mapley and Alexandra O'Brien all checked. On the {4-Spades} turn, King bet 16,000 and was called by both opponents before the {K-Diamonds} fell on the river. King fired 37,000 and only Mapley called to flip over {K-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}. King's {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} were no good anymore and Mapley increased the gap to his opponents.

Mapley Busts Nader Zadeh

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Darren Mapley
Darren Mapley

Joining the action on a flop of {2-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {6-Spades} with around 45,000 chips in the pot, Jan Nader Zadeh checked to Darren Mapley on the button and faced a bet of 30,000. Nader Zadeh check-raised to 60,000 and was eventually called to see the {Q-Hearts} on the turn. Nader Zadeh took his time before moving all in for his remaining 70,000 chips and was snap-called.

Nader Zadeh: {J-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}
Mapley: {Q-Diamonds} {J-Spades}

The {10-Hearts} river was a brick and Mapley becomes the joint chip leader.

Sudden Rush of Eliminations

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Within the last 10 minutes, several players have been eliminated. For Joe Brindle it was a coin flip for his last 60,000 chips with {J-Spades} {J-Hearts} against the {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds} of Matas Cimbolas. The day 1b chip leader improved on a board of {9-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {5-Hearts} and sent Brindle to the rail.

Dickisin In the Lead

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Richard Dickisin raised from early position and Marius Oproescu got his stack of 100,000 all in after a little raising war to see himself at risk in a typical coin flip. Oproescu held {J-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} and Dickisin had two over cards in {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}. The board ran out {6-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {10-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} to give Dickisin the higher pair and chip lead for now.

Rochira Folds Aces

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The {J-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {J-Hearts} {6-Spades} board was already complete and Jeraint "JJ" Hazan pushed Antonio Rochira all in. After a lot of consideration, Rochira folded the {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds} and remained in the tournament with 110,000 in chips.
