Day 1a Started
The World Poker Tour's next event is here, with the WPT Amsterdam €3,300 Main Event kicking off today, May 10, and running through May 14. That cards will be in the air at 2 p.m. local time.
Holland Casino will play host to the tournament, and it will allow reentry into Day 1b for players eliminated on Day 1a. The event will also utilize a "best stack forward" format, giving players that bag on Day 1a a chance to play Day 1b in an attempt to bag up more chips and bring their biggest stack to Day 2.
Last year at WPT Amsterdam, a field of 341 showed out, and Farid Yachou took it down for €201,000. Yachou's run became even more glorified when he went on to win the WPT Tournament of Champions at the end of the season, taking $381,600 in true Cinderella fashion, and you can read more about his storied run here.
In addition to the €3,300 Main Event, players are offered a pricier €6,000 High Roller, running May 9-10. Last year's edition of this one attracted 76 entries and saw Jason Wheeler walk away with the €125,000 top prize. After Day 1 of that event this year, 76 entries were tallied with the UK's Frank Williams finished atop the 42 survivors. Although we won't be providing full live coverage of that event, you can expect us to sprinkle in some updates here and there.
Stay tuned for coverage, as the event will be kicking off today and great things are expected.

Dietrich Fast, who busted the high roller pretty quick today, hopped in the Main Event and lost some chips pretty rapid. We missed the preflop action but saw the under the gun player bet 375 on . On the button, Dietrich Fast called. Both players checked the on the turn and the completed the board. The under the gun player bet 900 and Fast was hasty to call, but had to muck upon being shown .

As we arrived the turn was already out in a hand between Gerard van Veen (under the gun) and Raoul Refos (late position), with the board reading . Van Veen checked and Refos answered with a bet of 5,100. Van Veen called.
The completed the board and Van Veen checked. Refos silently glanced at his own stack, studied Van Veen's stack, and carefully tossed in three 5,000-chips for a bet of 15,000.
Van Veen wasn't too happy about all of this, and at one point let out a small sigh. He tanked for some time before eventually mucking his cards.
Refos let out a big smile and showed while raking in the chips.
"You dare huh?" said WPT Amsterdam 2015 and WPT Tournament Of Champions winner Farid Yachou.
"I had to!" answered Refos with an even bigger smile.
