Masinter Moving Up

Tom Masinter picked up another nice pot as he put in a river bet of 7,000 and was looked up by Neil Cooke. The board showed {J-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {3-Hearts} as Masinter tabled {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs} for the flush. Manister has seen his chip stack climb to 96,000 early in Day 2.

Wang Collects Chips, Wakamiya Exits

Marty Wang called the preflop shove of Jeff Wakamiya holding {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts}. Wakamiya tabled {A-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} and found himself crushed as the flop spread {8-Hearts} {K-Spades} {4-Diamonds}. With the turn and river offering no help to Wakamiya, his day concluded and Wang added an additional 13,300 to his stack. Wang now has accumulated at total of 80,000 in chips.

McClain Doubles Through Heinz

Shayne Heinz

In a four-way limped pot, with the flop showing {8-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {3-Spades}, Mike McClain moved all in from the big blind for his last 20,800. Shayne Heinz asked for a count and eventually made the call. The other two players in the hand got out of the way and a showdown ensued:

Showdown:
McClain: {A-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}
Heinz: {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs}

Ecstatic to see that he was a favorite on the flop, Heinz's emotions did a complete 180 as the turn completed McClain's nut flush ({Q-Diamonds}). The river brought an unnecessary sixth diamond for McClain ({K-Diamonds}), whose flush won him the pot and about 45,000 in chips.

"Guess I had the wrong ace," Heinz said after the hand. The pot left Heinz with just 7,000 in chips.

45 Players Remaining

Just thirty minutes into the day's play and we've already lost ten players. At this rate, we'll be done by dinner time, though things will surely slow down as we get closer to the money bubble.

The 45 remaining players are seated across five tables and the average chip stack is now 44,000.

Tim Vance Eliminated

Facing a raise from Tom Masinter, Tim Vance shoved his last 10,000 into the middle with {J-?} {8-?} to the suited K-6 of Masinter. The board kept Masinter ahead as it came {7-?} {7-?} {6-?} {2-?} and another blank on the river put an end to Vance's day. Masinter is up to around 85,000 as he holds steady on the leader board.

Nothing Doing for Nakano

Yosh Nakano
Yosh Nakano
Tournament chip leader Chris Dombrowski opened the pot with a raise to 2,500, and Yosh Nakano moved all in for a tad bit more. Dombrowski looked him up with a pocket pair of fives and Nakano tabled {A-?} {J-?}.

The board blanked out with no help to Nakano and Dombrowski's fives held up to earn him the pot, eliminating Nakano from the tournament.

Broomfield Picks Up Pot, Eliminates Alder

Django Broomfield and Jason Adler were all in after a flop of {9-Spades} {K-Spades} {7-Spades}. Adler held {K-Hearts} {7-Hearts} for top two and was at risk to the flush as Broomfield held {A-Spades} {8-Hearts}. An {A-?} was the turn, but the doomsday card for Alder proved to be the river as it came {10-Spades}. Broomfield added around 20,000 to his stack at sit with 54,000 currently.

Paul Ousted by Ferguson

David "Big H" Paul
David "Big H" Paul
Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson has just swallowed up short-stack David "Big H" Paul to improve to just over 60,000 in chips.

All of the chips were in the middle on a {4-?} {J-?} {3-?} board with two hearts; Ferguson holding {5-Hearts} {6-Hearts} and Paul's with {A-Hearts} {2-Hearts}. The turn and river then came {4-?}, {2-?} , no heart, but gave Ferguson a six-high straight to clinch the hand and send Paul to the rail.

Muchnik Cracks Aces with Jacks

Mark Muchnik
Mark Muchnik
Mark Muchnik managed to survive what could've been a fatal catastrophe after getting it all in preflop. Muchnik was drawing to two outs, holding pocket jacks against the pocket aces of opponent Jason Sanders.

The {J-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {2-Spades} {4-Spades} {7-Clubs} board saved Muchnik, giving him jacks full of fours and renewed hope. After the hand, Muchnik improved to approximately 22,000 in chips while Sanders dropped below 30,000.
