Nigris Pays the Bill

Level 22 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Paolo Nigris was first in from the hijack seat, and he opened the pot with a big raise to 77,000, about half his stack. In the small blind, Bill Stradley three-bet all in, and Nigris committed his last ~70,000 chips to put himself at risk.

Showdown
Nigris: {J-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}
Stradley: {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades}

The {10-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {9-Clubs} flop missed Nigris, but the {8-Spades} turn made things a bit more interesting. The at-risk player picked up ten full outs to the win, still about a 4:1 underdog to survive. He could not overcome those odds, either, and the blank {3-Clubs} river filled out the board to seal his departure in 18th place. That's good for more than $6,000 for Nigris, but it's Stradley with the chips -- about 460,000 of them now.
