We've put six levels in the books, and it's time for another 15-minute break. Back in a flash.
A player under the gun min-raised to 600 and Darol Rodrock moved all in for just over 10,000. Kyle Golden called and action folded back around to the original raiser. He folded and the two hands were tabled.
Rodrock:

Golden:

The board ran
and when Golden saw the
he stood up and walked away from the table.
"God, how do people play so bad?!" Golden said no one in particular. "He moved 10k into a 1,000 chip pot."
"You should have folded those kings," another player at the table said. Alluding to the fact that kings have been cracked several times at that table.
The board finished
and Golden walked around the room to work off some of the steam.
Looking far across the room, we noticed that something was amiss, but it took a couple seconds for us to realize what it was. Bernard Lee was missing from the wide angle image we had in our heads from a couple minutes ago. Wandering over to his table, Jeff Banghart noticed us looking around for information. He obliged with all the details.
"Bernard opened to 775, Seat 9 made it 3,000. Bernard shoved with nines; Seat 9 had kings."
Well, there you go. Lee's Day 1a flight has come to an end with a cold four-bet, and our next plan is to see if Banghart is looking for some live reporting work over the summer.

A middle-aged gentleman opened with a raise to 700 before Garry Gates three-bet shoved two seats over. It was 7,375 total, and the raiser spent about a minute in the tank before making the call for a fraction of his big stack.
Showdown
Raiser:

Gates:

The flop brought an ace, but it came
to give Gates the big lead with two to come. He leaned far over the table to make sure that middle card was his set, and the turn
and river
locked up his double. He's back over 15,000 and back in business.

We didn't catch the hand but we saw Jacob Bazeley making his exit from the tournament area. Smart money says we'll see him in the evening flight.

Mark "P0ker H0" Kroon is one of the most entertaining people you'll find at the poker table, and he's spent the bulk of his day playing the role of class clown.
"What's the chip leader got?" he asked as we passed by just a moment ago. There are a couple players with 55,000 and a couple more with 50,000, and Kroon is among those big stacks.
"Don't think anyone has sixty yet," we answered.
"I got fifty-five!" Kroon couldn't help his smile. The other half of Wisconsin's finest, Gary DeBernardi, is doing similarly well as he hovers with about 40,000 or so at the moment.

"Wat da hell?"
If you've spent any time around the WSOPC Main Events, you're familiar with Matt Chang's catch phrase. Unfortunately for the East-Coaster, his run here in Council Bluffs has come to a (temporary) end. Chang was awfully short on chips when he got involved in a multi-way pot that flopped
. When it checked to him, Chang stuck the last of his stack in there, and when two players called, he stood up and started to gather his things. The turn and river came
and
with the two live players mixing it up in some side action. At showdown, one of them was able to show
for the straight, and that's the end of Day 1b for Chang.
"You coming back?" we asked him sheepishly.
"Not sure yet," he said flatly, expressing as much frustration as you'll see from the gregarious regular.

A middle position player opened the pot to 550, Dennis Phillips called from the button, Gary DeBernardi called from the small blind and the big blind came along too. The flop came
and action checked all the way around. The turn came
and DeBernari bet 850. The bet was sufficient to for everyone to fold except for Phillips.
The river fell
and DeBernardi bet 1,000 and Phillips muttered under his breath something along the lines of what he could bet. Apparently, he couldn't beat much as he tossed his cards back to the dealer, surrendering the pot to DeBernardi.
