Keikoan Can't Hold

Matt Keikoan and Erkut Yilmaz were heads up with the board reading {q-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Spades}. Yilmaz was all in for around 40,000 - a pot-sized bet - and Keikoan was in the tank.

Keikoan eventually called, and was ahead with {a-Spades}{j-Spades} against the {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} of Yilmaz.

The {8-Clubs} spiked on the river however, and Yilmaz doubled through to around 95,000 chips. Keikoan is left with around 70,000 chips.

Fitzgerald Busts

Ibrahim Barghouti opened in late position, Kenny Fitzgerald three-bet shoved for around 10 big blinds near the button, and Barghouti made the call.

Barghouti: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Fitzgerald: {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

The board ran out {2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, and Fitzgerald was eliminated.

Nice Start for Yamada

Somanath Nirakari opened to 3,000 from the cutoff, Tom Masinter called on the button, Brandon Bowyer called in the small blind, and Derrick Yamada raised to 12,000 out of the big blind. Nirakari got out of the way, but both Masinter and Bowyer called.

The flop fell {j-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Bowyer checked, and Yamada moved all in for what looked like 46,000 or so. Masinter tank-folded, and Bowyer quickly mucked his cards.

Welcome to Day 2

Robert Hancock
Robert Hancock

Day 2 of the World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event here at Harvey's Lake Tahoe is set to start in 30 minutes. Of the 419 players who registered only 162 remain, and the chip leader is Bisuil Hoxhaj (167,700 chips). On His heels is Robert Hancock, who has 135,800 chips.

Hancock was unafraid to mix it up during Day 1a, butting heads with fellow chip leader John Song. In one particular hand, Hancock ran a big bluff with queen-high, and tabled his cards face up after Song mucked on the river.

Joining Hancock atop the ranks are Jeff Rubie, David Clark, Steve Foutty, Tom Masinter, Nick Troendly, and Ryan Olisar. Olisar had a bit of a roller coaster day, but finished strong when he won a 90,000-chip pot with a set of sevens against an overpair.

The cards will be in the air shortly, and once registration is closed, we'll give you the official prize pool and payouts. Be sure to stay tuned for all of your live up-to-the-minute updates straight from the tournament floor!
