Adios, Mora

Level 22 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Claudia Crawford tossed out a bet on a flop of {7-Clubs}{k-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. Juan Mora moved all in, a third player folded, and Crawford immediately called.

Crawford: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Mora: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

Crawford was well ahead, and it was all over when the {a-Spades} turned. A meaningless {5-Diamonds} completed the board, and Mora was eliminated.

Crawford now has over 600,000 chips.

River Ace Cooks Cook

Level 22 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Michael Cook
Michael Cook

Soon after play resumed, Michael Cook found himself all in for his last 105,000 or so and at risk with {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades} versus the {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} of Greg Raymer.

The flop came {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. "Nine, nine," said Raymer, describing another way he might win the hand. The turn brought the {6-Hearts} and Cook's jacks was still ahead.

But the river brought the {A-Diamonds}, pairing Raymer and sending Cook to the rail in 46th place.

Wein Puts on His Cape

Level 21 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Daniel Weinman
Daniel Weinman

When we arrived at the table, James Steen and Daniel Weinman were heads up on a board of {5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. Weinman checked, Steen fired 90,000 into a pot of around 200,000, and Weinman went deep into the tank.

Weinman eventually called, and Steen turned over ace-high. Weinman tabled {7-Spades}{5-Spades} for a pair of fives.

"Good call," Steen said genuinely. "Good call."

Weinman is back up to 425,000 chips, while Steen slipped to 715,000.

More for Monroe

Level 21 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

David Nicholson opened to 16,000 from early position, Jerry Monroe three-bet to 41,000 on his direct left, and the action folded to Karthik Ramakrishnan, who four-bet jammed on the button. Nicholson folded, and Monroe instantly called.

Ramakrishnan: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Monroe: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}

Monroe held as the board ran out {3-Spades}{7-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{k-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, and Ramakrishnan was eliminated.

Monroe on the Move

Level 21 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

David Nicholson opened with a raise to 16,000 from middle position and picked up three callers behind him including Jerry Monroe sitting one seat to his left. The flop came {4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{K-Hearts}, and Nicholson continued for 26,000. Monroe raised to 80,000, scattering the other two, and after thinking a few moments Nicholson called.

The turn was the {2-Spades}. This time Nicholson checked, and when Monroe tossed out a bet of 140,000, Nicholson again took a few moments before making the call.

The river was the {3-Diamonds}. Nicholson checked once more, and once more Monroe was carving out chips to bet. He pushed out two tall columns of gray chips — a bet of 200,000 — and Nicholson folded.

Nicholson falls back a bit after having led the counts, while Monroe now appears to have pushed into the lead with more than 800,000.

Kyle Cartwright (Day 1a) - Eliminated
Kyle Cartwright (Day 1a) - Eliminated

George Zinaty opened to 22,000 from middle position, Kyle Cartwright jammed for roughly 120,000 or so on his left, and Jason Gwinn re-jammed in the cutoff. The action folded back to Zinaty, who painstakingly folded {a-}{q-} face up.

Cartwright: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Gwinn: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

Gwinn's kings held as the board ran out {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, and Cartwright was eliminated.
