After twelve levels of 45-minutes each, Day 1A of the WSOP International Circuit €1,700 Main Event has come to an end with 96 players bagging their chips for Day 2 on Sunday, March 31. In total, 221 entries were attracted to the first opening flight and up to the end it was a close race for the chip lead. But when the final bag was sealed, Germany’s Peter Bstieler was the one to claim the Day 1A chip lead honors with 376,700 in chips.

The young German seems to have collected all his cashes here in the King’s Resort but one and reached a final table, finishing in sixth place in the €1,100 Monster Stack during the 2017 World Series of Europe Festival for €17,940 which was also his biggest live cash that has been recorded on the Hendon Mob.

Trailing Bstieler in the chip counts is another German player, Daniel Smiljkovic who bagged 366,500 at the end of the day. Smiljkovic registered late as he first had to play in the Monster Stack where he finished in sixth place for €9,225. After registering late, Smiljkovic seems to be sailing smoothly through the Main Event, eliminating Pilipe Pilipovi in between when Smiljkovic had turned a straight against Pilipovi’s flopped top pair.

Closing out the top five for today are Georgy Philippovich (317,000), Daniel Szymanski (309,000), and Yehonatan Behor (294,900). Other notable players making it through to Day 2 with an above average stack include Michal Mrakes (235,100), Rifat Gegic (197,400), Jan Bendik (196,600), Antonio Barbato (154,100), Martin Kabrhel (139,200), Marek Blasko (134,400), and Alexandre Viard with 125,000.

Unfortunately, not everyone could make it through today’s field and some of the players who were eliminated during the day include the defending champion Emil Bise, Oliver Heidel, Evangelos Bechrakis, Marcin Chmielewski, Michael Magalashvili, Jason Wheeler, Grzegorz Wyraz, Zhong Chen, Eyal Bensimhon, and Marcel Luske. But they will be able to reenter tomorrow, Saturday, March 30, as Day 1B will kick off at 2 PM local time.

The defending champion, Emil Bise, was eliminated twice during Day 1A

With a €1,103,500 guaranteed prize pool, Day 1B is expected to a busy one as another twelve levels of 45-minutes each will be played. Late registration or reentering is possible until the end of the break after Level 14 on Day 2 which should be around 3:50 PM local time on Sunday, March 31.

Make sure to return right here on Saturday, March 30, at 2 PM as the PokerNews live reporting team will be on the floor until the final bags have been tagged for Day 2.

Play Ended

Level 12 : 700/1,400, 1,400 ante

With 97 players left on the tournament clock, all of them have now bagged up their chips for Day 2. The full chip counts and a recap of today's action is to follow.

Last Three Hands

Level 12 : 700/1,400, 1,400 ante

The tournament clock has been paused and the tournament director has announced that the players need to play three more hands before they can bag and tag for Day 2 on Sunday, March 31.

Chen Needs to Try Again

Level 12 : 700/1,400, 1,400 ante

Hubert Baran-Osinki raised to 3,000 from early position, Zhong Chen three-bet to 10,200 from mid-position. Antonio Karman four-bet to 20,000 from the hijack. Peter Kaae decided to five-bet shove for around 130,000 from the big blind. Only Chen decided to call with the shorter stack of around 60,000.

Zhong Chen: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Peter Kaae: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The board ran out {2-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Clubs} to not help Chen at all and the High Roller Winner from last night was eliminated.

Baran-Osinki claimed to have had {a-}{k-} while Karman said he held {a-}{q-}. Guy Gorelik on the button said he folded {10-}{10-}.

Pilipovi Done In by Smiljkovic

Level 12 : 700/1,400, 1,400 ante

Rifat Gegic raised to 3,500 from mid-position and Daniel Smiljkovic called in the hijack. Pilipe Pilipovi three-bet to 12,000 from the cutoff. The rest folded so action was back on Gegic who called and so did Smiljkovic.

The flop came {3-Clubs}{k-Spades}{2-Hearts}, both Gegic and Smiljkovic checked. Pilipovi bet 20,000, Gegic folded and Smiljkovic called.

The turn brought them the {4-Diamonds}, Smiljkovic checked again and now Pilipovi shoved for around 40,000 which Smiljkovic snap-called.

Pilipe Pilipovi: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Daniel Smiljkovic: {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Pilipovi had flopped top pair and had a straight draw but Smiljkovic had already turned a straight so Pilipovi was drawing dead.

The river completed the board with the {9-Clubs} as a formality and Pilipovi was sent to the rail. Smiljkovic takes the chip lead for now with 25 minutes left in the last level of the day.

Recent Chip Counts

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Tebege Taken Down by Vikas

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

The flop read {6-Spades}{x-Spades}{q-Spades} in a three-way pot.

Ricky Vikas (small blind) had the all-in button in front of him and was all-in for 103,300. Franz Doblinger was sitting in the big blind with a bet of 25,000 in front of him and the clock had been put on him. Samuel Tebege was in mid-position and was already all-in for 61,500 in total. The tournament director had started counting down and Doblinger did not call or fold by the time the clock had been counted down. The tournament director had declared his hand dead and Doblinger angrily flipped over {5-Spades}{2-Spades} for the flopped flush. Now it was Vikas' and Tebege's turn to table their cards.

Samuel Tebege: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Ricky Vikas: {9-Spades}{8-Spades}

Tebege had an overpair while Vikas had flopped a flush too.

The rest of the board was completed with the {3-Spades} on the turn and the {5-Clubs} on the river to not provide any danger to Vikas as he eliminated Tebege from the tournament.
