Break Time

The tournament clock has been paused while the dealers assist the players with a color-up of the 100 denomination chips. Once the color-up is complete, the players - 23 of them in all - will take a quick 15-minute break.

de Best Chipping Up

de Best
de Best
Tournament short-stack Pete de Best is moving on up the leaderboard. Starting the day with a little more than 10,000 chips, de Best doubled through David Peters when his {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} held up against Peters' {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} on a {9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{8-Clubs} board. A few minutes later he took a pot off Vanessa Rousso and now has right around 50,000 in chips.

Watkinson Doubles Early

Lee Watkinson has just doubled up through Peter Neff after his pocket jacks held up against Neff's pocket nines in a pre-flop all in confrontation. The board filled out {5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} and Watkinson took down the pot on the strength of his jacks.

With the win, Lee now has over 160,000 in chips.

Theo Tran Eliminated in 25th Place

Theo Tran's "sick" tournament has come to an end. He moved all-in on a {Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop and was called by David Peters. Tran showed {Q-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} for top pair while Peters flipped up {6-Clubs}{A-Clubs}, giving him an overcard and a flush draw. An innocuous {5-Spades} fell on the turn, but Theo's dagger came in the form of a rivered {10-Clubs}.

Peters now has just over 200,000 in chips.

Michael Katz Eliminated in 26th Place

After Theo Tran raised to 8,000 from middle position, Michael Katz re-raised all in for his last 53,000. Vanessa Rousso then moved in over the top for her last 89,000 from the small blind, prompting Tran to step out of the way.

Michael showed {A-Spades}{J-Hearts} and Vanessa showed {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}. A board of {3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{A-Clubs} was no help to Katz and he was the second elimination of the day, finishing in 26th place.
