Pete de Best Eliminated in 18th Place ($8,482)

Action folded around to Pete de Best on the button, who moved all in for his last 19,000. Scott Reese made the call from the big blind and showed {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} while de Best flipped up {7-Clubs}{K-Clubs}. The flop of {8-Clubs}{10-Spades}{J-Spades} gave de Best a straight draw, but he bricked on the {3-Diamonds} turn and the {6-Diamonds} river and was eliminated in 18th place, collecting $8,482 in prize money for his efforts.

Who is Pete de Best?

Pete de Best
Pete de Best
Often times in the poker world we come across a name that simply doesn't sound believable. Case in point: Runnar Runarsson . . . Rep Porter . . . Chris Moneymaker, even. All living, breathing poker players.

Pete de Best is another one of those hard-to-believe poker names, but we promise - it's the real deal.

de Best and Gavin Smith are both seated at the feature table and the subject of de Best's last name came up.

"It's a little cocky to be calling yourself de Best already, isn't it?" Smith joked. "I'm getting my last name changed to extraordinary," he added.

We're In the Money!

Round-for-round play has come to an end on all three remaining tables and we're officially in the money. Unfortunately for Tom West, no other players were eliminated during the round-for-round period, giving him the unwanted title of 'bubble boy.'

Stay tuned for the new two-table seat draw and updated chip counts.

Tom West Eliminated in 19th Place

Patiently waiting.
Patiently waiting.
A short-stacked Tom West got it all in pre-flop holding {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and found himself heads-up against Evan Schwartz who tabled {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}. The board filled out {K-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{2-Hearts} giving Schwartz a full boat and sending West to the rail in 19th place.

Normally, we'd be in the money at this point, but the tournament directors have opted to settle things 'round-for-round,' meaning once we reached 19 players, all remaining tables were instructed to play an orbit of hands and then wait for the others to catch up. In the event that two or more players were eliminated from the tournament during this 'round' of hands, they would split 18th place prize money. This method is in place to help prevent stalling near the money bubble.

Subsequently, Tom West is now waiting patiently outside the rail, hoping that someone somewhere will bust within the next few hands.

Bob Van Horne Eliminated in 20th Place

Evan Schwartz raised to 11,000 from middle position and Bob Van Horne re-raised all in for his last 37,000 from the button. Action folded to Schwartz, who made the call and showed {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. Van Horne revealed {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} but a {K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{J-Clubs} board offered no help to Van Horne and he was eliminated in 20th place, leaving us just one elimination away from the button.

Kyle Orvis Eliminated in 21st Place

Kyle Orvis

Kyle Orvis raised to 37,000 from the cutoff. Edward Sabat reraised all-in from the big blind for 100,000 and Kyle quickly called. Orvis, covered by Sabat, showed {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades} and was ahead of Sabat's {A-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, but the flop of {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts} spelled trouble for Orvis and the {Q-Hearts} on the turn did him in, as Sabat completed a flush. The meaningless {3-Hearts} fell on the river and Orvis was eliminated.

"Sorry man, I thought you were making a move on me," were Sabat's parting words to a frustrated Orvis.
