Updated Chip Counts Heads-up

Level 30 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Quick Double for Rodrigues

Level 30 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

All-in and calls are like London buses. You wait ages and then two come along at once. This time it was Rodrigues doubling through Selides with {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts} vs {a-Hearts}{9-Spades} on {k-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}

Players have just gone on a 30 minute break

Selides Flushes Out Rodrigues

Level 30 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

The two players saw a flop of {4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and Selides lead for 170,000. Rodrigues called.

On the turn {Q-Diamonds} Selides check-raised Rodrigues' bet of 300,000 to 900,000. Rodrigues made the call and saw the {7-Diamonds} on the river.

Selides then lead for 1,340,000 and Rodrigues went deep into the tank. He thought and swore, checked and re-checked his cards before calling. "Nuts" announced Selides, tabling {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, cue more swearing from Rodrigues.

Deal Done; Time to Marvel at the Moon

Level 30 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

A slight pause in proceedings, for the journalists at least, who all rush outside to marvel at the halo surrounding the moon for a minute.

Back to the poker, and despite the deal, neither player looks like easing up and both are intent on winning the remaining cash and the gold ring

Players Agree a Deal

Level 30 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

The players have agreed a 50:50 deal, with 50,000 dir (€4,657) and the ring left aside for the winner. The payouts are now as follows:

Jonathan Rodrigues: 975,000 dir (€90,822)
Mathieu Selides: 975,000 dir (€90,822)

Double Up for Selides

Level 30 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

It was all-in preflop for Selides again with pocket tens: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} against the {a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} of Anthony Rodrigues

The board ran out {k-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} which doubled up Selides and effectively balanced out the players' stacks.

Big Pot to Rodrigues

Level 30 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Anthony Rodrigues
Anthony Rodrigues

On a flop of {4-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{7-Hearts} Anthony Rodrigues check-called a bet of 130,000 and saw a turn card which was the {10-Diamonds}. Again Rodrigues checked and this time Selides bet 300,000. Rodrigues called and then checked a third time on the {5-Spades} river. Selides wasted no time in firing our a hefty bet of 700,000.

Rodrigues thought for a few minutes before announcing raise and pushing forward 2.1m in chips. Selides went back and forth in his head before calling.

Rodrigues: {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Selides: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}

Selides had turned a set, but Rodrigues rivered the nut straight and moved into a commanding chip lead once again

Rodrigues Three-Bet Folds; Gives More Chips to Selides

Level 30 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Sometimes the most interesting hands don't have a showdown. Ok, that's a lie, but still they can be interesting.

Jonathan Rodrigues raised to 160,000, which has been the standard size so far. Selides pulled back his big blind and re-raised to 460,000. Rodrigues, not content with that pulled his bet back and made it 900,000. Selides then moved all-in and Rodrigues cursed, reluctantly letting go of his hand.

Selides Wins Three on the Bounce

Level 30 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

From the early stages of this heads-up battle it appears that Selides is the more comfortable. Rodrigues is mucking his cards in more and more an irritable fashion, and Selides has managed to pull back almost a million in chips from the Belgian.
