Heads-up Chip Counts

Level 29 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

They've done the maths and Anthony Rodrigues will be entering heads-up play with a more than 2:1 chip advantage over Mathieu Selides. As is customary there is a short break to reset the table and to organise the players ahead of heads-up play, and then we will play down to a winner!

We said it was going to be a battle between these two to avoid being busted by the big stack. Mathieu Selides raised small to big and Pinto jammed. Selides made the call.

Pinto: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Selides: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Pinto was ahead and the flop was a safe one {6-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. However the {9-Diamonds} threw a little tension into the air, with Selides now taking the lead but also opening the door to a split pot. However the river was the {j-Hearts} eliminating Pinto in third meaning we were now heads up between Selides and Rodrigues for €111,776 and a gold WSOP ring

Split Pot Between Rodrigues and Correia

Level 29 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

The crowd were on their feet around the table as all-in and call was announced by the tournament officials. Rodrigues had opened to 120,000 and Pinto had shoved from the big blind. Rodrigues made the call.

Pinto: {a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Rodrigues: {a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}

The flop made a chop very likely as it came {j-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}, and the turn of the {6-Clubs} meant that a six or any card higher than a seven would mean a split pot for the pair, or a three for the outright win for Rodrigues knocking Pinto out. However the river came {6-Spades} and the two split the pot

Three-handed play

Level 29 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

One of the bigger pots without an all-in just occured between the two big stacks. Preflop Anthony Rodrigues raised to 120,000 and was three-bet by Mathieu Selides. Rodrigues called and then called Selides' bet of 240,000 on a board of {10-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. He then called another Selides bet on the {3-Clubs} turn and both players checked the river. Rodrigues showed {a-}{8-} and won the pot and in doing so opened up a slight gap between him and Selides in second place.

Meanwhile Correia shoved over Selides' open and got through. He has replaced Chergui as the resident short stack looking for that all important bubble to get back into contention

Choukri Chergui Eliminated in 4th Place (€41,916)

It had been coming but finally someone looked Choukri Chergui up and it was chipleader Anthony Fernandes

Fernandes: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Chergui: {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}

Chergui almost looked resigned to defeat before the flop was dealt, but the {5-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{2-Spades} extinguished any hope of a comeback and the {6-Spades} confirmed it. The {8-Clubs} was a mere afterthought as the players shook hands, with Chergui exiting in 4th place
