PokerNews Video: Mark Newhouse and Daniel Negreanu

Two of the day’s PokerNews videos are must-see’s. First, Mark Newhouse talks about his much-discussed, 20-plus-hour heads-up 500/1000 limit hold ‘em session -- in which he claimed he knew he didn’t have a big edge -- and how it was just “for fun.”

Secondly, we talked to Daniel Negreanu about being back in his old stomping ground where his rise from stardom to superstardom started just a few years back with his incredible Player of the Year run, and also about the unorthodox cards that were used in play today that were causing quite a lot of discussion between the players.

Phil Gordon Eliminated

Jimmy Tran limped under the gun, the small blind limped, and Phil Gordon checked his option in the big blind. The flop came {A-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}. The small blind checked, Gordon bet 2,000, Tran raised to 4,000, the small blind folded, Gordon reraised to 8,000, and Tran called. The turn card was the {2-Spades}. Gordon bet 8,000, Tran moved all in, and Gordon called with {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} -- trip fives. But Tran showed {9-Spades}{8-Spades}, giving him the lead with a spade flush.

Gordon would need to spike a full house to stay alive, but the river card was the {3-Clubs}, and Phil Gordon was eliminated.
