A Chip and Chair

It's not a good feeling when you flop top pair, move in for the rest of your chips . . . and have your opponent insta-call with two Aces. The board blanks out and you're done. Finished. Kaput.

That unhappy scenario just played out at a table right in front of us. The player in the one seat saw his dreams crushed by those Aces and turned to walk out of the room. "Whoa! Whoaaaa!!" several players said before he got two feet. After the dealer sorted out the pot he had a single, solitary black chip to play with. Well, Jack Strauss was down to a single chip back in 1982, and he went on to win the World Championship. In fact, the huge poster of Strauss' grinning face is staring down at us from the Ring of Champions. Chip and a chair. Not the best situation to find yourself in, but still better than the rail.

Mark Seif Rolling

With his stack now up to 33,800, Mark Seif is running hot - and running away from the field. Mark called a shortish stack's all in with {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. His opponent shows {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, but gets no love from the board, and Mark Seif is stakcing chips left and right.

Seif on his bets - "I got 100k against JC [Tran] winning a bracelet, and $25k against Lindgren. If either of those guys make the final table, I'm not playing in the event that day. I'll show up in the crowd, bring the clappers - you name it!"
