The tournament staff has ended all play for the day and the remaining players have advanced to Day 2. Be sure to tune in tomorrow at 2 p.m. PDT to follow along.
Unlike previously, Phil Gordon's pocket pair held up against an all-in. After a 14,000 preflop raise by Gordon, there were three players in on the flop.
Flop:
Gordon moved all-in and the player in the cutoff folded, leaving Gordon and the button, who was all-in, heads up. Gordon turned over pocket jacks and his opponent showed . His opponent didn't improve and Gordon is up to 108,000.
John Juanda made it 6,200 to go from middle position. The player in the small blind moved all-in for an additional 27,000. Juanda folded his hand, but was heckled by his opponent for the fold.
Opponent: "I thought you were a pro?"
Juanda: "Show what you had"
Opponent: "You pay me $20,000 and I'll show you"
Juanda: (jokingly) "Cash or chips? I'll give you cash but I'm not allowed to give you chips"
Opponent: "Okay"
After a brief pause, Juanda told his opponent, "Now we go to war".
The cards are in the air and the dealers are ready to finish their last push. Players seem more calm than they were before the break. Some of the all-in madness may be subsiding as players realize they are twenty minutes away from making Day 2 in a World Series of Poker event.
With "all-in" being heard nearly every thirty seconds, we have had quite the bombardment of eliminations. So far, almost 100 players have been eliminated since the cash was reached less than one hour ago.
The line continues to grow at the Harrah's desk as more and more players continue to go all-in. The field has shrunk considerably since the money was reached and we will be posting all the prizepool information as soon as we can.
