Check, Please, Table 17

Kathy Liebert just sat down at table 17. Chris Ferguson and David Williams are already there. The rest of the players at that table just saw their chances diminish even further.

Medic Alert

Nenad Medic raised to 600 in early position and another player reraised to 2,000 in late position. Medic went all in and the opponent called. Medic showed {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} to {A-Hearts}{A-Spades} for his opponent. The board ran out {Q-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{Q-?}{8-Diamonds} and Medic is left with only 900 in chips.

Medic is having a tough series so far. Hopefully, he can make it up in a future event. (For those of you that are sarcasm-impaired...)

Jennifer Tilly Busts a Player

A middle-position player limped, Jennifer Tilly reraised to 600 from late position, and a short-stacked player in the small blind pushed all in. Both the MP player and Tilly called.

The flop came {6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{K-Spades} and both the MP and Tilly checked. The turn was the {10-Spades}. The MP checked, Tilly bet 800 into the dry side pot, and the MP folded.

The river was the {A-Clubs}. Tilly showed {A-Spades}{2-Spades}. We didn't catch the SB's hand, but it couldn't beat Tilly's aces, and he has hit the rail.

Princes of the Universe

These tables are even more deadly than usual, by virtue of the fact that by the end of the day, there can be only one. Like that movie we saw one time.

Slow or Fast?

Not everyone would describe today's structure as "slow," it appears.

Mark Seif arrived a few minutes after the start, and immediately asked the table why they were already at 100/200 blinds. Others at the table echoed his complaint.

Lots of Notable Players

Here is a good list of the notable players in this event. Since there's not a whole lot of competition for the players' time today, expect most of the best to be here.

Level 1 begins

Blinds are starting at 100/200 today (no ante), and players are starting with 10,000 chips. Each level lasts one hour. Before the start of play, the announcer explained how the shootout format works, and as he did he described today's structure as "slow." (You can see the schedule of play by clicking "Betting Structure" over on the right-hand column.)

So while we are only playing one round, we may well have a long day ahead of us.
