A Good Fold, then Good Timing

Two recent hands from Table #5:

John Juanda limped in from the small blind/button, and Tim West checked behind. The flop came {2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and both players checked. The turn was the {5-Clubs}. West checked, Juanda bet 8,000, and West let it go. Juanda showed {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} for the flopped nut flush, and West said he had folded a pair and a flush draw. Nice escape, there.

On the next hand, West pushed all in from the small blind/button with his last 52,000, and Juanda called. West showed {K-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, and Juanda tabled {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}.

The flop came {K-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, bringing the needed king for West. The turn and river were {7-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}, and West is back up to 110,000. Juanda has 490,000.

One to Go

Five of our six players for tomorrow's final table have been determined: Leo Wolpert, Greg Mueller, Phil Tom, Sirous Jamshidi, and Tom Roupe.

John Juanda continues to have a big lead over Tim West, but it looks like West might be making a move . . .

Tom Roupe Advances to Final Table

Tom Roupe
Tom Roupe
Tom Roupe had about a 3-to-1 chip advantage when the following hand took place:

Roupe raised to 19,000 from the small blind/button, and John Murphy called. The flop came {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}. Murphy checked, Roupe bet 20,000, Murphy check-raised all-in, and Roupe made the call.

Roupe showed {Q-Spades}{J-Clubs} for top pair, and Murphy {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for the nut flush draw. The turn was the {3-Hearts}, and Murphy needed an ace or club, or he was done.

The river was the {7-Diamonds}, and Tom Roupe moves on to tomorrow's final table.

Love for JJ

John Juanda
John Juanda
All night, several of Tim West's friends have been coming around to wish him luck as he has battled his way down to heads up versus John Juanda.

Just now, a dealer came over to express his support to Juanda.

"Finally, someone comes to wish me good luck!" said Juanda.

Cooler Not Too Cool (for Beebe)

At Table #4, Sirous Jamshidi limped from the small blind/button and Elton Beebe checked. The flop came {6-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. Beebe bet 22,000, Jamshidi raised to 62,000, Beebe reraised all in, and Jamshidi called with his last 180,000.

Jamshidi {6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Beebe {7-Hearts}{4-Spades}

Both had flopped two pair, but Jamshidi's was the better two. The turn was the {A-Spades} and the river the {9-Hearts}, and Beebe is now down to 99,000. Jamshidi has a commanding lead with 501,000.
