Tehan Looks Up Perrot

Joe Tehan raised in early position to 16,000. Jean-Claude Perrot makes the call from the small blind, and the two men go heads up to the flop.

It shows up {2-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {3-Clubs}. Both players check. The turn is the {3-Hearts}. Perrot bets out 12,000, and Tehan flat-calls. The river brings the {7-Hearts}, putting a four-flush on board. Perrot fires another bullet, stacking out 30,000 chips. Tehan makes the call, showing down {A-Clubs} {K-Hearts}. Perrot can't beat it with his {K-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}, and he is pushed down to 40,500 chips. Tehan, on the other hand, is comfortably sitting on 343,500.

Podlewski Takes Out Neu

Chris Podlewski and Matthias Neu, both short stacked, got all their chips in preflop and only one survived.

Podlewski had {A-Clubs} {9-Spades} against Neu's {Q-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} and the board ran out {K-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {A-Spades} {4-Diamonds} giving Podlewski's aces the pot.

Just Another Suckout

Albert Iversen was just involved in another large pot, something he must be growing accustomed to over the past couple hours.

In this one, he opens the betting with a raise to 15,000 from early position. Phung Ngo calls in middle position, and Jean-Claude Perrot makes it 45,000 from the cutoff seat. Iversen moves all in when the betting comes back to him, a total bet of 167,000. Ngo folds, and Perrot makes the call, having his man covered.

Iversen: {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades}
Perrot: {K-Hearts} {K-Clubs}

Iversen is behind and at risk of elimination. Yet again, the worst hand is going to win this pot. Right on the flop, Iversen makes a set and he never looks back. The board runs out {Q-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {A-Spades}. Iversen snatches victory from the jaws of defeat, and more than doubles up to approximately 350,000. Perrot, despite getting it in way ahead, has been knocked back to 95,000.

Mark's Kings Not So 'Seif'

Mark Seif raises under the gun, making it 14,000 to play. Action passes around to Albert Iversen, who just lost that massive pot a few minutes ago. He is in late position, and he moves all in for his tournament life. Seif says, "I haven't seen one of these today," and makes the call, tabling {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}. Iversen shows down {A-Spades} {Q-Spades}.

Continuing the room-wide trend over the last hour or so, the worst hand wins this pot as well. The board comes out {A-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}. The ace on the flop gives Iversen the win, and doubles him back up into contention.

Dominating to Dead in One Easy Step

From the button, Randy Haddox moves all in with a short stack. The small blind folds, and action is on J.C. Tran. He looks at one card, the {A-Clubs}, and makes the call. Haddox opens up {A-?} {9-?} and both players get to find out Tran's hand together. He flips over {A-Clubs} {4-Clubs} and is dominated.

The domination was short-lived though. Haddox falls from the lead and is drawing dead when the flop comes {2-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {3-Clubs}. The turn and river are meaningless, and Haddox is busted from the field.

No Love for Chan

The bad beats have caught up with Terrance Chan at the worst time. Just after losing that pot with aces against ace-king, this happened:

He and Jean-Claude Perrot were at it again just a few hands later. This time, Chan opened up with a raise, and Perrot popped him back with a second raise. Chan moved all in for a total of 85,000, and Perrot made the call.

Perrot: {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades}
Chan: {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}

For the second time against the same opponent, Chan has a stranglehold on a big pot before any board cards are out. And for the second time, he comes up wanting at the end.

With the action complete, the board unluckily runs out {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {8-Hearts}. Perrot's triple queens rob Chan of yet another big pot, this time enough to stack him right down to zero. After taking those two gnarly beats, Chan walked out of the room under a black cloud.

Biggest Pot So Far

Scott Freeman
Scott Freeman
The action began when Scott Freeman pushed all in under the gun. His raise was quickly outdone by another all in raise from Jeff Williams in middle position. Then, just for good measure, Albert Iversen re-re-raised all in from late position.

The hands were as follows:
Iversen {A-Spades} {K-Clubs}
Freeman {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds}
Williams {J-Hearts} {J-Spades}

The flop came {9-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {4-Clubs} followed by the {6-Clubs} and the {5-Hearts} on the river giving Freeman the monster pot.

Williams was eliminated, Iversen was left with 160,000 and Freeman stacked 750,000 to become our chip leader.

Rosen Races Levi

Rosen
Rosen
Nicolas Levi and Jamie Rosen got involved in a race when Rosen turned {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} and Levi turned {A-Spades} {K-Clubs} after the two had gone all in preflop.

The board blanked off {5-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {6-Spades} {9-Clubs} and Nicolas was eliminated.
Rosen has chipped up to 375,000.

The Ole Suck, Re-suck, Re-re-suck

Speaking of aces getting cracked...

Terrance Chan raises from the small blind, and Jean-Claude Perrot reraises all in from the big for a total of 90,000 chips. Before he has a chance to blink, Chan beats him into the pot with {A-Diamonds} {A-Hearts}. Perrot sheepishly tables {J-Hearts} {10-Spades}, all in and trailing.

Lightning strikes though, when the flop comes {6-Spades} {10-Hearts} {J-Spades}. Perrot makes his two pair and jumps into the lead. It didn't last long though.

The dealer runs off the {6-Clubs} on the turn, making Chan a bigger two pair and putting Perrot on the brink of extinction. It wasn't over yet though. The dealer burns and turns the last card...

{J-Diamonds}

Coming from behind for the second time in the same hand, Perrot makes his full house and steals the pot from Chan's grasp. With the win, he and Chan virtually trade places. Perrot sits with 180,000, while Chan is down to 85,000.
