Nam Le Crippled

Nam Le was left with just 200 chips after running his {9-Spades} {9-Hearts} into the {10-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} of his opponent. The money went in preflop and the board missed both. Le is on life support with less than one small blind.

Lee Markholt Eliminated by Caroline Cooper

Lee Markholt raised to 1,800 from early position. Action folded around to Caroline Cooper in the big blind and she moved all in. Cooper had Markholt covered and Lee made the call for his tournament life. The players showed:

Cooper: {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}
Markholt: {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}

The board ran out {K-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {3-Hearts} and Markholt's jacks were second-best. He said his goodbyes and then headed for the exit.

Ted Lawson Takes One Down

After a raise from under the gun, action folded around to Ted Lawson in the small blind. Lawson, unaware that the under-the-gun player was in the pot, pushed out what he thought was a raise of his own. The big blind folded and Lawson began to muck his hand, flashing it intentionally to the big blind in the process. Moments before releasing it, he realized there was still action. He asked the raiser if he saw his cards. "Sort of," replied the raiser. Lawson had put enough chips out for a legal raise and the under-the-gun player made the call.

The flop came {K-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {3-Hearts}. Lawson checked and his opponent bet 3,000. Lawson tanked for about four minutes and then moved all in. His opponent folded and Lawson took down the pot. He is now sitting on approximately 25,000 in chips.

"It's the Finals"

It seems a lot of the players in today's event have taken an interest in the NBA finals game currently being shown on a few of the monitors throughout the Amazon Room. A lot of players, after folding, stare intently at the game. It's very likely that at least a few of them may have placed a wager or two on the outcome. For those of you wondering, the Celtics lead the Lakers 19-14.

Players Protest Four-Handed Play

Players at Jared Hamby's table have declared a mutiny on the tournament staff. Two recent eliminations at their table left them playing four-handed. They felt that this was patently unfair, that either two players should be brought to the table or the table should be broken. The dealer was instructed to continue play; the players responded by refusing to act. For a full ten minutes, no player took any action or called a clock on another player. Finally, seeking the path of least resistance, a floor person broke the table.
