Gabriel Thaler Eliminated

Board: {9-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds}

Gabriel Thaler moved all in on the turn and was called by Linda Lee. Linda turned over {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs} for an ace-high flush draw while Thaler turned over {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} for the other flush draw.

The river was the {6-Spades}, giving neither player a flush or a pair. Lee's ace-high was good enough to take it down and Thaler was eliminated.

Rough Day for Johnny World

John Hennigan - Day 1a
John Hennigan - Day 1a
John "World" Hennigan started the day with 50,000 chips but has been taking hits left and right. His last 6,300 was recently in the middle against a single opponent. The board flopped a straight for Hennigan when it came {K-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} to double him up to about 13,500.

Perry Friedman Shaking His Head

The flop was {K-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {5-Clubs} with about 10,000 in the pot. Brian Anderson and Perry Friedman went to the turn and saw the {4-Clubs} come down. Darrell Dicken Thinking of Mom

Wayne Brown and Darrell Dicken recently went toe-to-toe after Brown raised to 1,800 and Dicken called from the button. On a flop of {2-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {10-Clubs}, Brown bet 2,500. Dicken quickly raised to 7,500, and Brown made the call.

The turn fell {8-Diamonds}. Brown checked, then called when Dicken bet 12,000. Both players checked the {3-Spades} river. Dicken opened his hand to show {9-Spades} {9-Clubs}, a hand that was declared the winner after Brown mucked.

Brown has 100,000 chips. Dicken has 90,000 and asked us to say hi to his mom for him.

Could You Hold it Down, Please?

The bustling energy and noise of the Amazon Room is conspicuous in its absence today, even more so than on the Day 1s. As the players filed into the room this morning, spirits and voices were high as the players mulled around the room, finding their seats and those of their friends. Last-minute phone calls, a quick bite to eat, crack open that energy drink.

Once the cards went in the air, though, the intensity went up a few notches, while the decibel level dropped proportionately. In wandering around the room, generally the only conversation we hear from the tables involves the hand in progress or the one that just finished. Gone are the laughing and joking about life outside the Amazon Room. These guys are here to play cards and make money today.
