Glantz Driving the Speed Limit

From under the gun, Matt Glantz raised before the button reraised. Glantz called. The flop was {J-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}, which prompted Glantz to check-raise his opponent. The button player made the call.

The turn was the {9-Spades} and Glantz fired a bet. His opponent called. The river was the {6-Hearts} and both players checked their action.

Glantz turned up a red speed limit, {5-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}, to best his opponent's {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} and move up to 70,000 chips.

"I'm so bad"

On the board of {J-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}, the small blind bet into Lex "RaSZi" Veldhuis in the big blind. Veldhuis made the call. The river was the {7-Hearts} and the small blind led again. Veldhuis opted for a raise this time, but his opponent came right back with a reraise. Veldhuis insta-mucked his hand. "I'm so bad." he said.

Veldhuis - 38,000

Buchman Gets Bucked

An under-the-gun player raised, and both Eric Buchman from the small blind and the big blind called. The flop came down {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}. Action checked to the preflop raiser and he fired a bet. Buchman tossed in a raise and the big blind folded. The other player called.

The turn put the {4-Spades} out there and Buchman fired. His opponent raised and Buchman called. The river was the {8-Clubs} and Buchman checked. His opponent fired a bet and Buchman paused for a moment. He then mucked his hand, dropping to 56,000 chips.

Hyper-Aggression Works for Tran

Jimmy Tran raised from the button and the player in the big blind tossed out chips intending to call, but accidentally threw out too many. He tried to recover the chips but was ruled to have made a raise. Tran then reraised once again and his opponent called.

Things only got crazier once the {K-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop was spread. The big blind check-raised Tran's continuation bet, only to have Tran reraise once again. The big blind capped it and Tran made the call.

The {6-Diamonds} hit the turn and Tran called the bet of his opponent, and again on the {8-Spades} river.

"King" said the big blind player, however it was no good as Tran revealed {8-?}{5-?} for rivered trips to send his opponent steaming away from the table. Meanwhile Tran stacked up 74,000 in chips.

Henson and Negreanu Avoid Big Clash

Ray Henson just avoided disaster while Daniel Negreanu may be ruing a missed opportunity after they split a pot when the board produced five clubs.

Henson had flopped two pair with {K-?}{9-?} and Negreanu turned a set of eights, but the fifth club on the river left both players playing the flush on board and they chopped it up.

Henson has over 50,000 chips with Negreanu still battling with 25,000.

Greenstein Moving Up

The flop came down coordinated, {10-Hearts} {8-Spades} {5-Hearts} and the first player from the small blind fired out. Lex "RaSZi" Veldhuis called, and then Barry Greenstein raised. The small blind reraised, Veldhuis called, and Greenstein called.

The turn brought the {7-Diamonds} and the first player bet. Veldhuis and Greenstein called.

The river brought the {6-Hearts} and action checked to Greenstein. He fired a bet and both players folded. With that pot, Greenstein moved up to 70,000 chips.

Kongsgaard No Show

We're now into the second level of play for the day and one player has still yet to take their seat for Day 2 action.

Soren Kongsgaard started the day with an average stack of 27,700 but after a level of missed blinds and antes he has slipped down to around 18,000. Could Kongsgaard be the next Vinny Vinh and cash without making an appearance on Day 2? We're still 40 places from the money so you'd think that would be unlikely, so Kongsgaard will need to arrive sometime soon!

Ladies Spreadin' Some Love

Daniel Alaei and Erle Mankin just won two back-to-back pots with pocket queens. In fact, the suits were exactly the same as well.

After some preflop action, the flop came down {5-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {2-Diamonds}. One player checked, Alaei bet, another player folded, and the first player then called. The turn brought the {Q-Diamonds}. The first player checked, Daniel Alaei bet, the player raised, Alaei reraised, and the player called. The river was the {5-Diamonds}, pairing the board, and Alaei bet after his opponent checked. The player made the call and Alaei showed {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} for a full house and scooped the pot.

On the next hand, the flop was {J-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {8-Clubs}. Alaei checked, Erle Mankin bet, the next player raised, Alaei three-bet, Mankin called, the other player then reraised and Alaei folded. Mankin called.

The turn brought the {10-Spades} and Mankin fired. His opponent called. The river was the {7-Diamonds} and the action checked. Mankin showed {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} to scoop the pot, winning with the same two starting cards that Alaei just won with.
