Devilfish Folds a Flush

On a board of {J-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} David Benefield bets 33,600 from the big blind into a 45,000 pot. Seiver Soars, Montgomery Moves On

With 26,000 in the middle and {A-Spades}{J-Spades}{2-Hearts} on board, Scott Seiver bet 21,350, Tom "durrrr" Dwan called, then Scott Montgomery raised it to 50,000. Seiver responded by pushing all in, Dwan folded, and Montgomery called with the last of his chips.

Seiver showed {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for top pair, while Montgomery showed {8-Spades}{7-Spades} for the flush draw. The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and the river the {9-Diamonds}, and Montgomery hit the rail. Meanwhile Seiver has chipped up to 260,000. Dwan is now sitting with about 98,000.

McNiff Takes Pot Without Showdown

Evan McNiff raises from under the gun to 1,800. Jean "Prince" Gaspard is in the big blind and makes the call. The flop comes {J-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {8-Spades} and both players check. The turn is the {6-Hearts} and Gaspard leads out for 2,500. McNiff makes the call. The river is the {8-Diamonds} and both players check it down.

Neither player wants to turn over their cards and they get in a staring match, trying to will the other to show their hand first. Prince gives up after a few awkward moments and tosses his cards into the muck. McNiff takes down the pot without having to show the table what he held.

Hasan Habib Arrives Fashionably Late

Hasan Habib has finally arrived to the tournament an hour and a half late.

Not to be outdone, there has been no Phil Hellmuth sightings as of yet. Will he parachute in through the roof of the Amazon Room? Maybe ride in on a silver donkey? We'll have to wait and see...

Shorr Succumbs to Stubborn Seed

Four players saw a flop of {10-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. It checked to Shannon Shorr in the cutoff who bet 5,500, Huck Seed called from the button, and the others folded. The turn was the {10-Hearts}. Shorr bet 11,500, and Seed called again.

The river brought the {4-Spades}. This time Shorr fired 38,000, and Seed made the call once again. Seed turned over {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}, and Shorr mucked. That hand brings Seed back up to his starting stack of 120,000, while Shorr is sitting at 98,000.

Ivey Sees Through Opponent's Strange Play

A player in middle position opens the pot for a raise of 3,200 (5.3x the big blind). Tom "durrrr" Dwan calls from the cutoff, as does Phil Ivey from the big blind. The flop comes {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {4-Clubs} and all three players check. The turn is the {Q-Diamonds} and the original raiser leads out for a minuscule 1,000 into the 10,000+ pot. Dwan folds and Ivey makes the call.

The river brings the {5-Spades} and the player in middle position bets 5,000. Ivey announces a raise and tosses out a single 25,000 chip. His opponent quickly folds and Ivey takes down the pot.
