Tens Terrific for Ted

Ted Forrest opened from middle position by raising to 50,000 and got three callers: Noah Schwartz, Tony G (button), and Doshi Suresh (big blind).

The flop came an enticing {6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. Suresh checked, Forrest bet 65,000, Schwartz folded, Tony G called, and Suresh folded. Pot approximately 355,000.

The turn was the {J-Spades}. Forrest checked, and Tony G checked behind.

The river was the {K-Diamonds}. Both checked again. Forrest turned over {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, and Tony G mucked.

Forrest now has 1.26 million, and Tony G has slipped down to 310,000.

Marco Johnson Eliminated by Justin Bonomo

"CrazyMarco"
"CrazyMarco"
Marco "CrazyMarco" Johnson got the rest of his chips in before the flop against Justin Bonomo holding {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs} to Bonomo's {K-Clubs} {10-Clubs}. Bonomo hit a king on the flop to take the lead and Johnson couldn't improve, hitting the rail in 33rd place.

Bonomo is up to 2.2 million in chips.

David Baker Serves Up a Double Elimination; McNiff and Gerasimov Hit the Rail

From the cutoff Kirill Gerasimov open-shoved for 150,000 only to have Evan McNiff reship from the button for 350,000. From the big blind, David Baker called to put them both at risk.

Kirill Gerasimov - {K-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} (25%)
Evan McNiff - {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs} (25%)
David Baker - {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} (50%)

The flop came {A-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} giving McNiff the best hand with a pair of aces, but also opening the door for Kirill (any diamond would give him the nut flush).

Visibly upset after going from first to worst, Baker was left drawing to only two outs.

When the {Q-Spades} fell on the turn, he felt much better.

Baker needed to fade a diamond or a ten to take the pot, and when the {7-Spades} fell on the river, he successfully completed the double elimination of McNiff and Gerasimov.

David Baker - 1,530,000
Kirill Gerasimov - 32nd place ($0)
Evan McNiff - 31st place ($0)

Alec Torelli Doubles through Greg Raymer

Jacks are good
Jacks are good
Alec Torelli opened from late position and Greg Raymer called from the small blind. Raymer checked the {10-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {3-Spades} flop and Torelli bet 61,000. Raymer answered back with a raise to 150,000 only to have Torelli shove all in for his remaining 325,000. Raymer called.

Torelli {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs}
Raymer {K-Clubs} {10-Clubs}

The turn was the {8-Diamonds}, the river was the {7-Spades} and Torelli's jacks took it, his stack climbling to 970,000. Raymer is still near the top of the pack with 1,750,000.

Schwartz Shuns Suresh Shove

Doshi Suresh
Doshi Suresh
With thirty players remaining, Doshi Suresh just startled his table somewhat by open shoving for 728,000 from the cutoff. Most affected was Noah Schwartz in the big blind. After the others folded, Schwartz agonized for some time, counting out his stack as he deliberated over what to do. Finally he folded, having already shown his hand to Ted Forrest on his right.

After the hand was over, Suresh said he had been dealt queens. "Do you want to be called by ace-king?" asked Forrest provocatively. Suresh didn't say.

Three more eliminations and we're in the money.

David Chiu Doubles through Alec Torelli

Wrist hurts. Kings don't.
Wrist hurts. Kings don't.
Just as Alec Torelli raked in that huge pot from Greg Raymer, he lost a bit of it back, doubling up David Chiu when his pocket sevens ran into Chiu's pocket kings. The flop was {J-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {2-Hearts} and Chiu sealed the hand up when the {K-Clubs} hit the turn. The river was the meaningless {2-Clubs} and Chiu doubled to 460,000. Torelli's stack dipped to 890,000.

Nam Le Eliminated

Nam Le
Nam Le
After a flop of {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {10-Hearts} Nam Le was all in while holding {A-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} , however, found himself behind against the {K-Diamonds} {10-Spades} of Dani Stern.

The {J-Clubs} fell on the turn, giving Nam the better two pair, but the {K-Spades} on the river filled up Stern ending Nam Le's day.

Dani Stern - 1,250,000
Nam Le - 30th place ($0)

Career Counseling at Table #62

With about 120,000 in the pot and a flop of {5-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{6-Spades}, Andy Black bet 80,000, and Lex "RaSZi" Veldhuis raised to 500,000. To call the bet would mean committing the rest of his stack, so Black took his time about it.

Finally, Veldhuis began talking. "You're a live player, I'm an internet player," Veldhuis began. "You've been tanking for three minutes.... If you don't know where you're at by now, you should change careers."

Black finally mucked, preserving his remaining 300,000 chips. Veldhuis has about 1.5 million.

Galfond Eliminated, 28 Remain

Phil Galfond
Phil Galfond
Ted Forrest raised to 40,000 from early position, Phil Galfond reraised all in to 245,000 from the hijack seat, and Forrest made the call.

Galfond {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Forrest {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}

The board came {K-Spades}{7-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, and Galfond is out in 29th place. Forrest now has 1.56 million.

We've reached the money bubble, so the tournament is now being played hand for hand.
