Not So Fast

We thought we had reached the final two tables. In fact, for a moment, even the players did. But we still have 19 players left.

Brian Townsend had raised to 65,000 from the button, Justin Bonomo reraised to 240,000, Townsend pushed all in for about 630,000 total, and Bonomo called.

Townsend showed {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Bonomo {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. The board came {J-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, and Bonomo and Townsend shook hands before realizing they'd split the pot.

Bonomo still holds the chip lead with 2.72 million. Townsend has 630,000.

"That Would Have Been a Ralph Perry"

Lex "RaSZi" Veldhuis raised to 69,000 from under the gun, then Tony G pushed all in for 413,000 from the cutoff. It folded back to Veldhuis who made the call.

Veldhuis {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Tony G {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The board came {2-Hearts}{7-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, and Tony G had doubled up.

After the hand, Tony G smilingly commented on Veldhuis' decision to gamble with K-Q. "Now, king-jack, that would have been nice," said Tony G. "That would have been a Ralph Perry."

The G was alluding of course to a certain televised hand from the 2006 Intercontinental Poker Championship involving Perry. That hand elicited some commentary as well, some of you may recall.

Tony G now has 880,000, and Veldhuis 1.8 million.

Marafioti Semi-Bluffs the G

Tony G opened the action with a raise to 65,000 and Matt Marafioti called from the button. The flop was {Q-Clubs} {J-Spades} {2-Clubs} and Tony G checked over to Marafioti, who bet 250,000.

Tony G folded his {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} face-up and conceded the pot. Marafioti revealed {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs} for the nut flush draw and a gutshot straight draw as he raked in the pot.

Tony G - 820,000
Matt Marafioti - 740,000

Tony Takes a Tumble, Schwartz Shoots Ahead

Lex "RaSZi" Veldhuis raised to 68,000 from the hijack seat, and Tony G called from the small blind. Then Noah Schwartz pushed all in for 585,000 from the big blind. Veldhuis folded, and Tony G made the call.

As in the earlier hand with Veldhuis, it was a pair of black tens again for Tony G -- {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}. But this time he was facing a better hand, as Schwartz turned over {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}.

The board came {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{2-Spades}, and Schwartz now has approximately 1.3 million. Tony G is back down to 235,000.

A Lot of Guts or a Really Big Hand

Should I call?
Should I call?
With the board reading {7-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {9-Clubs} on the turn, Justin Bonomo bet 175,000 from the big blind and Ted Forrest called from the cutoff. The river fell the {10-Spades} and Bonomo slid out a 1.05 million bet.

"Really?" said Forrest as he stood up from his chair. "You either have a lot of guts or a really big hand."

Forrest tanked for several minutes, leaning over the table and staring at Bonomo, who closed his eyes and bowed his head.

"This would be such a sick call. Nice bluff," said Forrest as he mucked his hand.

After the hand, Bonomo was up to 3.4 million while Forrest slipped to 1.9 million.

Andy Black Eliminated in 19th Place ($71,858)

Andy Black - 19th Place
Andy Black - 19th Place
Andy Black pushed all in for his last 245,000 from the hijack position, and Dani Stern called him from the small blind. As both players stood up, Stern turned over {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs} and Black {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}.

The flop came {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. "Oh!" said Black. "Come on, hold!" Then, as if he sensed something, "Don't do it to me!"

Alas, it was done to him, as the dealer dealt the turn -- {K-Spades} -- giving Stern the better two pair. The river was the {5-Diamonds}, and Black is out in 19th place. Stern now has 1.17 million.

Players are now redrawing for the final two tables. We'll get you those seating assignments momentarily.

He Who Hesitates

Lex Veldhuis raised to 80,000 from middle position, and it folded back around to Doshi Suresh who called from the small blind. Greg Raymer folded from the big blind, and the flop came {K-Hearts}{7-Spades}{8-Hearts}. Suresh checked, Veldhuis bet 105,000, and Suresh called.

Both players checked the {K-Diamonds} on the turn. The river then brought the {5-Spades}. Suresh checked, Veldhuis bet 315,000, and Suresh made the call. Suresh turned over pocket jacks, but Veldhuis had {6-Clubs}{9-Hearts} -- after getting to the river for free, he'd made that straight.

Veldhuis now has about 2 million, while Suresh is down to 430,000.
