Nine and Six Not the Same At All for Boatman

While his brother Ross was busy coming 4th over at the $2,500 Pot Limit Omaha final table, Barny Boatman was getting short again over here.

Duly he raised in early position and found a caller in Steve Kim in the big blind. They saw a {5-Spades} {5-Clubs} {4-Hearts} flop and Kim bet out; Boatman raised all in and they were on their backs.

Kim: {A-Spades} {10-Diamonds}
Boatman: {Q-Clubs} {6-Clubs}

Interestingly the dealer at first announced Boatman's hand as "Queen nine." Said Barny, "You mean queen six. It might be important when it comes out on the turn."

Turn: {6-Hearts}

River: {2-Diamonds}

Boatman doubles up to stay in the game, but he's still in some trouble on just 40,000.

Chips and a Chairman

After the action was capped three-ways on a flop of {A-Spades}{3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, Phil "The Chairman" Tom fired bets on the {8-Clubs} turn before being all in on the {8-Hearts} river with both Josh Arieh and Peter Gould making the call.

All three players had an ace, with Arieh showing {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, Gould {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} but the pot went to Tom with his {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}.

Tom triples up to 108,000 chips.

Brunson Doesn't Like the Board

A curious hand. Doyle Brunson raised under the gun and Daniel Alaei called on the button.

They then proceeded to check down the {6-Spades} {5-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} board until the river when Alaei tried a little bet. Brunson wasn't interested though, and check-folded.

Brunson: looking shaky on 65,000, roughly half the average stack
Alaei: looking much better on 190,000

Elezra Loses a Pot

Eli Elezra raised in early position and Farzad Bonyadi called him from the small blind. Bonyadi check-raised the {Q-Spades} {4-Clubs} {3-Hearts} flop and then proceeded to bet the {8-Spades} turn and {3-Diamonds} river. Elezra called him all the way down, but simply mucked when Bonyadi turned over {K-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} for top pair.

Elezra down to 50,000.

Baker Toast

Tragedy for David Baker. Incredibly short, he found himself playing {10-Clubs} {7-Hearts} and must have been absolutely delighted to see a {10-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {7-Spades} flop. He moved in and got called by Soheil Shamseddin holding {J-Hearts} {10-Spades}.

Smack!

Turn: {J-Diamonds}

River: {3-Diamonds}

Out goes Baker and we are down to 48.

Taylor Raines, But It's Blue Skies for Maria Ho

Ho - movin' on up
Ho - movin' on up
Maria Ho is incredibly hot right now -- running hot, that is.

She reraised Taylor Raines out of the big blind and they saw a {10-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} flop. She checked, he bet and she called.

Both players checked the {A-Clubs} turn, and Ho bet out on the {J-Diamonds} river. Raines called -- but mucked when Ho turned over {A-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} for two pair.

She's up to 225,000 now.

Upswing For Hsiung

Dan Shak raised from middle position before Josh Arieh popped it up from the cutoff. The action then folded to Kenny Hsiung in the big blind who made it 16,000 to go with a four-bet. Shak folded and Arieh made the call.

They took a flop of {9-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and Hsiung led out with a bet which Arieh called.

The turn was the {9-Clubs} and Hsiung fired again with Arieh calling once again.

On the {5-Clubs} river Hsiung fired a third barrel with Arieh eventually giving it up. A nice rush by Hsiung as he moves up to 222,000 chips.

Erik Seid-Lined

Seidel - sidles off
Seidel - sidles off
Erik Seidel could not have been much more behind when tha last of his stack went in -- his {Q-?} {J-?} was up against Maria Ho's {A-?} {Q-?}. Both smacked the {Q-?} {Q-?} {7-?} {6-?} {5-?} board as hard as can be, but Ho stayed ahead to send Mr. Seidel off home early.

She, meanwhile, moves on up to the environs of 190,000.
