Caught in the Webb

It looks as though David Webb is out -- whatever he had, it wasn't good enough to beat his opponent's jacks full, and he headed for the door.

Most interestingly, his former seat, right next to Lex Veldhuis, is now being occupied by fellow Dutchman Noah Boeken. This is Boeken's third tournament this Series and the third time he's made Day 2 -- he cashed in both the last two, but he's got a long way to go before he cashes in this one...

Ville, Von't He?

Ville Wahlbeck, currently well in contention for Player of the Year, has put himself in a slightly better position to make another final table.

Down to a below average 43,500 (average is at 77,000 now with 72 runners left), Wahlbeck reraised to a raise from Greg Mueller and they saw a flop. Mueller check-called all the way down the {A-Clubs} {7-Spades} {10-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} board and mucked when Wahlbeck showed him pocket tens for the flopped set.

Wahlbeck is up to 60,000; Mueller meanwhile barely feels the loss, with his stack now resting at 160,000.

Absolutely Tom

Phil Tom
Phil Tom
After raising preflop, Phil "The Chairman" Tom fired bets on every street with his opponent calling him down on a board of {K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}.

Tom revealed {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} for a set of kings to collect the pot and add to his growing stack. Tom is a WSOP bracelet winner, having won the $5,000 No Limit Holdem Shootout event last year. He's now up to 142,000 and in good shape to make it bracelet number two!

River of Gould

Peter Gould raised from under the gun before Brandon Adams re-raised from middle position. Chris Tsiprailidis called in the small blind and they took a flop of {J-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}.

Adams led the betting, firing on the flop and he was all in by the {4-Spades} turn. Both opponents made the call as the {10-Spades} fell on the river. Gould fired a bet into the side pot with Tsiprailidis making the call.

Gould showed {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} for the rivered straight as Adams sighed and flashed {9-Spades}{9-Hearts} for a set.

Adams is eliminated with Gould up to 135,000 chips.

Grinder Of The Day

Barny Boatman, down to just 10,000 or so last we saw him, has clawed his way up to around 80,000. How did he do it? "Patience and discipline," was the slightly disappointing reply. Good advice, there. Just less fun to report than, say, some ridiculous outdraw or something.

Also making a fine recovery is brightly coloured Dutchman Michiel Brummelhuis -- after dropping down to just 13,000, he's right back up to 86,000.

Adams Doubles

Brandon Adams
Brandon Adams
Brandon Adams was all in preflop for his last 6,800 with {A-Spades}{2-Clubs} as Josh Arieh made a gambling call in the big blind with {J-Spades}{9-Spades}.

The board ran out {2-?}{2-?}{K-?}{10-?}{A-?} missing Arieh and giving Adams a full house for the double up to stay alive. He's up to 14,900 chips.

Seidel Stays

Erik Seidel has doubled up to a still shaky 25,000, getting his last in with pocket jacks on a {3-?} {3-?} {7-?} flop. Howard Lederer called with {A-?} {K-?}, failed to hit on the raggy turn and river, and the pot went Seidel's way to keep him in the game.
