Mandy Baked!

Amanda Baker is down to just 10,000 after getting straight-flushed. She bet 6,000 on the turn of a {2-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} and was called. On the {A-Diamonds} river she check-called 12,800 only to be shown {5-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} for the absolute nuts. With blinds about to go 1,000/2,000 in ten minutes, it's surely push or fold time.

Royal Battle

John Monnette made a standard raise before an opponent three bet to 17,000. Monnette four bet shoved for 65,000 and his opponent made a quick call with {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}. He was in bad shape though as John Monnette tabled {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts}.

The board came {A-Spades} {A-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {8-Spades} {J-Spades} to safely see Monnette up to 110,000, no such fate for his busted opponent though.

Would You Like Some Tamayo With That?

Jonathan Tamayo is down to 37,000 after a three way all-in. He and another player both had ace-king and were up against a player’s pocket queens.

The board came {J-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} to eliminate one, triple-up one and leave one Tamayo disappointed but alive.

Do NOT Tempt Fate

An all-in and a call saw a showdown between {K-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} and {A-Hearts} {6-Spades}. The board came down {6-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {10-Hearts} at which point the player with {K-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} celebrated, clapping his hands even as the {K-Diamonds} appeared on the river.

At this point, he finally realised he'd been overtaken on the river, before shaking his opponent's hand and wishing everyone good luck.

The moral of the story: Do not annoy the poker gods.

Big Will, Now Big Stack

Calen "Big Will" McNeil has just doubled up in a big pot. I missed the early bet amount but there was a button raise into his big blind which he treated with no respect as he three bet it. This was met with a four bet of 16,000 more. McNeil called and went to a {3-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}flop.

McNeil check called a quick all-in bet of his opponent with {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} for top set. His sheepish looking opponent tabled {K-Hearts} {9-Hearts}. “I guess you were at it” said McNeil as he saw his hand hold to double him up to 158,000.

Tran-Tastic

JC-Zing Everything.
JC-Zing Everything.
J.C. Tran is up to 218,000 after flopping the nuts on a {4-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {10-Clubs} board with {A-Clubs} {2-Clubs}. He called an 8,000 bet on this flop before his opponent moved all-in for 38,000 on the {2-Hearts} turn with {K-Spades} {10-Spades}. Tran instantly called and the {Q-Clubs} on the river was incidental.

One for One

A short stacked lady UTG moved in for 13,000 and found a caller from Jack Powell in the big blind with {9-?} {9-?}. Her {4-?} {4-?} was way behind and stayed there all the way.

She wasn't disappointed to be out though as this is her first WSOP event and she's cashed.

Powell on the way up, 48,000 now.

Captain, We Have a Problem

Captain Tom Franklin's boats got a hole in it and he's sunk a bit. He's down to 28,000 from a starting stack of over 60,000.

The latest hit came after he raised from mid position and was called in the small blind before a {8-Spades} {A-Clubs} {3-Hearts} flop came down. The SB led out before Franklin set her in. She called with {A-Spades} {Q-Spades} and was ahead of Franklin's {A-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}. the turn and river blanked giving the SB a timely double-up.
