Le's Little Triple

Nam Le raised from the cutoff all in for his final 500. Both blinds called, but the small blind would fold after his first draw. Le took two cards on the first draw, then two more on the second. His opponent in the big blind drew one time before standing pat with 8-7-5-4-2. On the last draw, Le had 7-5-4-2 and needed to hit an eight, a six, or a three to stay afloat. Sure enough, he flipped over a three to improve to the winning number one. He's tripled up to 1,500, still in the danger zone.

Mimi Makes a Bad Low

Nam Le raised from the cutoff, and both blinds called including Mimi Tran in the small. She took two, the big blind three, and Le took just one. Mimi bet out after the draw, the big blind folded out, and Le came along with the call.

He drew one, as did Mimi, and they both checked. On the last draw, Mimi gave the dealer pretty clear instructions: "Okay, no more pairs. I've gotten a pair on the last two draws." The dealer took heed, but he could only give her a J-6-5 low. It was good though; Le flashed a queen and flung his cards into the muck.

Le - 3,200
Tran - 8,500

Green With Envy

"Boosted J"
"Boosted J"
Justin "Boosted J" Smith raised under the gun, and Barry Greenstein gave him action from the big blind. Smith drew two and bet, while Greenstein pulled three cards and made the call.

On the second round, Smith stood pat, and Greenstein still needed to draw two and call another bet. On the final draw, Greenstein picked one more card before the betting went check-check.

Greenstein showed 9-7-5-3-2, but Smith had made the winning eighty-seven on his first draw.

Smith - 15,500
Greenstein - 4,700

A Glantz-ing Blow

A player in the cutoff seat raised first into the pot. Yan Chen called from the button as did Matt Glantz from the big blind. The cutoff drew one and put in a bet, while Chen and Glantz both called after drawing two cards.

On the second draw, Chen needed two cards again while his opponents each drew one. This time Glantz led out from the small blind, the cutoff folded, and Chen was the lone caller.

Both players stood pat, and Chen called one more bet from Glantz. Matt tabled 8-6-5-4-3, and Chen returned his cards to the dealer face-down.

Glantz - 16,000
Chen - 5,900

A Numbers Game

The registration was indeed finalized at 258 runners, generating a total prize pool of $593,400. Of those 258 players, 24 of them will split that prize money with the bottom payout being worth $5,168. Each of the six final tablists will be guaranteed at least $23,575. The runner up will make six figures, $102,711. And to the lucky man or woman who can collect every chip in play will go $166,163 and the shiny gold bracelet.

With the prize information now displayed on the big clock, the players are hunkered down for their run to Day 2, the first big milestone on the road to the final table.

Lederer's Seventy-Six

After three rounds of betting both Ali Eslami and a player on the button were all in against Howard Lederer. The Professor stood pat on the last draw, while Eslami broke up an eight low to draw one more card. Lederer showed up 7-6-5-3-2, and neither opponent could catch a card to beat that.

Lederer takes care of two opponents, and he's back up to 7,800.

Williamson Out

Robert Williamson III - Out
Robert Williamson III - Out
The small blind raised first into the pot, and Robert Williamson called all in for his final 500 chips from the big blind. He took two cards all the way through with his opponent drawing one on the first draw and standing pat two times.

The small blind turned over 9-8-7-5-3 for the ninety-eight. Williamson turned over four cards: 8-5-4-2, leaving the last one for a sweat. He squeezed it out and flipped over another four, ending his day with a pair.
