Quacking Up on the River

We caught this hand as all the money went in on the turn with a board of {A-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{9-Spades}{10-Spades}.

Davis Bowen: {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}

Bowen was getting ready to walk away when the river brought a miracle card - the {2-Hearts} - giving him quad deuces to beat his opponent's full house. Bowen now sits with 63,000 chips.

Cheong's River Raise Pays Off

The action between Sanghyon Cheong and his opponent was very straight-forward until the river. Cheong's opponent check-called 350 on a flop of {K-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {10-Spades} and 600 on the {K-Hearts} turn. When the river fell {A-Clubs}, Cheong's opponent led out for 1,000. Cheong raised that bet to 2,500, then showed {J-Spades} {Q-Clubs} for a flopped straight after his opponent called. His opponent showed {K-?} {Q-?}, trip kings.

Cheong is on 42,500 in chips.

Suzie Lederer Fades and Wins

We missed the actual hand, but Suzie Lederer was kind enough to describe the details for us on how she moved her chip stack up to 65,000.

She raised preflop to 750 with {Q-?} {Q-?} and the button called. The flop came down ten high with two clubs on board. Lederer led with a bet and her opponent elected to try and play a big pot. The two wound up getting all in. Lederer's opponent held {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs} for two overcards and a flush draw.

The turn and river both came sixes with no club. Lederer's queens dodged all of the outs from her opponent and she was able to win a massive pot to move up to 65,000 chips.

Nguyen Busts a Player

Scotty Nguyen
Scotty Nguyen
We picked this hand up after Scotty Nguyen called his opponent's preflop all in bet. With about 10,000 in the pot, the board ran out {J-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades} and Nguyen's {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} gave him a better two pair than his opponent's {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}.

Nguyen is now stacked at about 48,000.

Evelyn Ng Busts

Evelyn Ng was all in preflop with {A-Spades} {5-Spades} against her opponent's pocket jacks. The board ran out {Q-Spades} {8-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {9-Hearts}, failing to help improve Ng's hand and sending her to the rail.

"Nice hand, good luck guys." were the departing words from Ng.

My, My, Maya

After a few limps and a raise to 1,200 from the player on the button, Maya Gellar moved all in for about 16,000 total from the big blind. The raiser made the call and showed two red kings. Gellar had two red cards of her own, {A-Diamonds} {A-Hearts}.

The board ran out {Q-Hearts} {6-Spades} {3-Spades} {7-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} to give Gellar the double-up. She now has over 35,000 chips.

Savage, Lee Battle

Matt Savage
Matt Savage
Doug Lee raised to 575 from under-the-gun and got three callers, including Matt Savage from the small blind.

Everyone checked the flop of {A-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades} and Savage bet 1,500 when the turn brought the {4-Hearts}. Lee and one other player called. The river brought the {Q-Spades} and this time, Savage checked and Lee led out for 4,000.

Lee showed {A-Spades}{8-Diamonds} while Savage showed {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts} to chop the pot when the third player mucked his hand.

The Devil and Bob Lauria

Bob Lauria raised to 525 and was called in position by the player in Seat 8, whom we have sometimes heard nicknamed "The Devil". On a flop of {K-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {8-Clubs}, Lauria bet another 600 and was called.

Both players checked the {6-Clubs} turn. At the river {j-Hearts}, Lauria check-called a 500-chip bet from his opponent. Lauria's opponent showed down top pair, top kicker with {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs}. Lauria rivered two pair, {K-Spades} {j-Diamonds}, to take down the pot and increase his count to 26,000.

A Loose Call Almost Pays Off

Matt Hawrilenko made it 900 to play from the button and the big blind moved all in for 4,300. Hawrilenko made the call.

Big Blind: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}
Hawrilenko: {7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}

A flop of {3-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{5-Spades} gave the big blind top set and Hawrilenko a gut shot, which he filled with the {6-Hearts} on the turn. Just when it looked like the hand was locked up though, the river changed things again, pairing the board with the {5-Clubs} and giving the big blind a full house.

Hawrilenko slipped to 19,000 after the hand.

David "The Maven" Chicotsky Eliminated

A player opened the pot for a 600 chip raise from middle position and Frank Kassela called from the button. David "The Maven" Chicotsky reraised to 1,700 from the big blind and both of the other players called.

The flop came down {9-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {5-Diamonds} and Chicotsky led out 2,025. The player in middle position raised to 6,200 and Kassela got out of the way. Chicotsky reraised all in for around 20,000 total and his opponent quickly called.

Chicotsky: {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts}
Middle Position: {5-Hearts} {5-Spades}

The board filled out {9-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {6-Hearts} giving the player in middle position a full house, eliminating Chicotsky from the Main Event.
