Wayans Wins Chips, But No Snacks

A player limped in from under the gun and it folded back around to a short-stacked Marlon Wayans who raised to 1,150. His opponent called.

The flop came {9-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{4-Spades}. Wayans bet 2,500, and his opponent raised all in. Wayans called with his remaining 3,300 chips. The table expressed a little bit of surprise when Wayans' opponent turned over {9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for nines. There was a louder noise when Wayans turned over his hand -- {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds} for trip jacks.

"We want some jerky!" said Wayans, calling for a fourth jack and thus the promotional prize being offered by Jack Link's Beef Jerky for anyone hitting quad jacks. The turn was the {9-Hearts}, and Wayans continued with promises for jerky all around should the case jack arrive.

The river was the {7-Spades}, so no free meat snacks. But Wayans does have a nice enough consolation prize -- his stack is now back to 14,500.

Sent Out To The Hall

Tom Hall has been eliminated after moving all in preflop with roughly 17,000 in hand holding {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}, but he ran into an opponent who tabled {K-Spades}{k-Hearts}.

The board ran out {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and Hall can't find an ace to save himself and is left to exit the Rio and hit the parties of Vegas town.

Not To Be Bluffed

Bluff Magazine editor Matt Parvis is recovering from a decline in chips after he went to war with {A-?} {K-?} on an {A-?} {K-?} {Q-?} flop against his opponent's {A-?} {Q-?}, managing to eliminate his foe.

Parvis is back up to 30,000 after a sticky start that saw him drop under 20,000 at one point.

Schlein Overpowers Gerasimova

Lika Gerasimova opened the action with a raise to 800 from late position and found one call on the button. Josh Schlein then popped it up to 2,725 from the small blind.

The action folded back to Gerasimova who four-bet to 6,250. The button got out of the way and Schlein asked the dealer to bring the chips into the middle, before declaring himself all in.

Gerasimova thought for a moment before giving it up as Schlein is now back up to 32,000 chips.

Clements Sees Chips Transport to Portal

Scott Clements doesn't like that river
Scott Clements doesn't like that river
After an opening raise to 850 from early position, Alexia Portal called from the button, as did Scott Clements from the big blind. All three players checked the {9-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop. The turn was the {5-Spades}. This time Clements bet 1,600, the original raiser folded, and Portal considered for a while before making the call.

The river brought the {9-Spades}. Clements tapped the table and looked toward Portal, who carefully cut out a bet of 2,250. Clements turned his gaze -- or, rather, intense stare -- toward the community cards, then pushed his cards forward, conceding the hand.

Portal is up to 41,500, and Clements is at 28,500.

Sad face
Sad face
According to our inside sources (actually Pokernews' own Gloria Balding), Sami Kelopuro is unhappy.

He is unhappy because although he is on around 40,000 currently, he feels that the standard of play on his table is so low that he really ought to have amassed more by now. Must be nice.

Hero Call Results In Chop

Daniel Alaei raises to 800 and was called by the button and Joep Peisser in the small blind.

The flop was {Q-Spades} {10-Spades} {8-Diamonds} and it was checked to the button who bet 1,600. Joep Peisser made it 4,300 and Alaei folded. The button called before both checked the {4-Spades} turn and the river was the {3-Spades}.

Peisser now bet 3,500 and eventually got called by his opponent forcing the Dutchman to show {10-Clubs} {8-Clubs}, except his opponent called him with... {10-Hearts} {8-Hearts} and they chopped it up with their two pairs.

Ivey Makes Quads

IT'S PHIL FREAKIN' IVEY!!
IT'S PHIL FREAKIN' IVEY!!
Phil Ivey had his opponent all in preflop. Ivey held {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} and his opponent held {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}.

The board ran out {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{A-Spades}, making Ivey quad aces and busting his opponent. The ESPN camera crew caught the action and even asked the dealer to leave the board and hands out in the middle of the table for a few moments after so they could capture it.

"What are we doing, let's go to the next hand." Ivey said as he raked in the chips. He nows has around 80,000.

Aces For Ian

Anthrax'D
Anthrax'D
Anthrax member Scott Ian fired every street up to the river with the board reading {Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}.

With his opponent facing a 7,000 chip bet when the river fell, it took him nearly three minutes before making the call.

Ian tabled his {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} to prompt a quick muck from his opponent as Ian chipped up to just on 40,000 in chips.

Europe Represent

A couple new players have been discovered who are perhaps anonymous over here, but well-known on the other side of the pond.

From England, Messrs Paul "Pab" Foltyn (38,000) and Adam Clark (26k) have been spotted.

And Portuguese tournament director Joao Nunes is trying his luck on the other side of the felt today. He's on 35,300 currently.
