Berman Busto

Lyle Berman is a goner.

He was holding {A-Hearts} {6-Hearts} with two hearts on the ten-high flop when his chips went in, but Jacob Avital's pocket jacks held up, and that's the end of that for Berman.

Avital is on a chip-leading sort of 90,000 stack.

Seiver Finds a Non-Believer

Scott Seiver raises to 600 and got called in middle position.

On the {A-Spades} {9-Hearts} {8-Clubs} Seiver bet 1,050 and his opponent called.

The pattern was repeated on the {6-Hearts} turn except Seiver bet 3,200 and was called.

The river was the {2-Clubs} and Seiver went for a chunky 10,000 bet and once again got called. He flipped {9-Clubs} {9-Spades} for the flopped set, which was enough for the win.

Hou da Man?

I got 5's
I got 5's
Wow, an impressive recovery for Jesper Hougaard as he doubles up again to put him up to 32,000.

It looked as though Hougaard bet every street of the {9-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {5-Spades} board, finally moving all in on the river -- and must have been delighted to be called all the way down, as he was holding {5-Clubs} {5-Hearts} for quads.

"Ace ten?" he asked of his newly short-stacked opponent. Mr. Opponent nodded sadly.

Vic-Torrie

Nobody wants Wilson to, er, bust
Nobody wants Wilson to, er, bust
To the massive relief of all the gentlemen in the room, Torrie Wilson has made a slight recovery and stays in the game, albeit still rather shakily on just 6,000.

Mr Wilson called a bet on the {A-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {3-Clubs} flop before checking behind on the {3-Diamonds} river. Her opponent bet 1,300 on the {K-Spades} river and Wilson called again. She flipped {A-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} and her opponent mucked; she lives to fight another day, possibly in a bra and panties match...

Oops...

It's not a good day to be Leroy Soesman, he turned up today fully expecting to play on Day 1d of the main event and live the dream of winning the main event.

Except there was one slight problem.

He had bought in for day 1a instead.

Unsure if he has actually got through the day, Soesman is now working with a couple of members of staff to see if his stack made it through the day.

Boyd Check-Raises With Nut Straight

Dutch Boyd raised to 600 from under the gun and got two callers before the cutoff seat raised to 1,900. Boyd made the call and only one of the other players called.

The flop came down {7-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {6-Spades} and action checked to the cutoff seat. He fired 3,000 with only Boyd making the call.

The turn brought the {10-Diamonds} and checks from both players.

The river was the {2-Spades} and Boyd checked. His opponent bet 6,000 and Boyd then raised to 15,000. His opponent made the call.

Boyd showed the nut straight with {9-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} in his hand and won the pot, moving to 51,000 chips.

Paper Or Plastik?

Taking it slow
Taking it slow
We checked in with all-around good guy David Plastik as he called a button raise from the big blind of 600. Plastik would check after the flop came {9-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {7-Hearts} , the button would then bet 1,000. Plastik bumped up the action to 2,500 total, and the button called. The turn was the {10-Clubs}. Plastik led out for 2,000 and his opponent folded. He is now back above starting chips at 32,000.

Broadway Dance For Tran

Cutting up Schulman
Cutting up Schulman
After recently taking down a big pot when he rivered a flush holding {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} to move to 40,000, Kenny Tran was back at it again.

With the board reading {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{4-Spades} Tran fired out a 12,500-chip bet into tablemate Nick Schulman.

Schulman sat in the tank for several minutes before eventually splashing the pot with his call.

Tran tabled the nizzles with {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades} to prompt a quick and forceful fold from Schulman as he slipped to 10,200 while Tran soared to 65,000 in chips.

No Cashouts

Just had a player somewhat angrily fold his cards at the end of a high-tension hand, stand up, pick up and put down the 6,000 or so chips he has remaining, then storm away from the table in order to collect himself.

"Thought he was gonna cash out!" said one of the players after he'd left, to the laughter of the group.

Hopefully we won't be seeing another incident such as happened on Day 1b, when a player who'd been drinking did in fact take his short stack from the table -- and thus out of play.
