Zackey Doubles Up the Maniac

Hieu Luu, wearing a t-shirt that says "I'm a Lucky Donk", has been playing so many pots on Table 36 that it's becoming impossible to put him on a hand. There were already roughly 1 million chips in the middle of the table and a flop on board of {3-Spades} {Q-Spades} {J-Diamonds} when we heard the familiar cry of "All in and call". Zackey, the chip leader not so long ago, was in very rough shape. He showed down {A-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} for middle pair against Luu's {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}, set of queens.

"You don't want to see a king or a ten," said one other player. The river was a complete brick, the {6-Hearts}, giving Luu a lock on the hand. The river {8-Diamonds} completed the board and set the dealer to work counting down Luu's 884,000 remaining chips. Combined with the pot, the double-up puts Luu back at 2.7 million. Zackey has fallen all the way down to about 2.6 million.

Nguyen Can't Win

From middle position, Ryan Hart raised to 65,000, and Anh Van Nguyen three-bet it up to 130,000 from the button. Hart called, and the flop came out {K-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {4-Spades}. Without wasting much time, Hart moved all in for 371,00, and Nguyen quickly called, turning over {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds}. Hart tabled {7-Spades} {7-Hearts}, and someone at the table said they had folded a seven, just to make the news worse.

Not to worry though, Mr. Hart. Like a thunderbolt, the {7-Clubs} struck the turn, vaulting Ryan into a big lead. The river was not an ace, and the {Q-Spades} marks a double up for Hart. He's back to 1,150,000, while Nugyen has taken another slide down to 660,000.

Luu Snapped Off

Hieu Luu has been very, very active at his table. It seemed like it was only a matter of time before someone else at the table decided to look him up.

It turns out that other player was Craig Boyd. With 300,000 chips in the pot, Boyd bet 95,000 on the turn of a board that showed {3-Clubs} {6-Spades} {7-Spades} {Q-Hearts}. Luu made a large raise of that bet to 420,000. Boyd called to see the river pair queens, {Q-Diamonds}. He checked, prompting Luu to shove all in.

The effective bet back to Boyd was his whole stack, 993,000. He thought it over for a moment, then called with {A-Spades} {7-Hearts}, queens and sevens.

"Good call," said Luu. His {K-Hearts} {2-Hearts} was nothing but a stone bluff. That pot gave Boyd 3 million chips while knocking Luu back to 1.3 million.

Routos Run Down

Jim Routos has been eliminated.

All of Routos' chips went in on the turn with the board showing {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{J-Clubs}. Routos had {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} -- a flush draw and the open-ender. His opponent, Tian Shou, had {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}.

The river was the {6-Spades}, though, and Routos becomes the next player to go out here on Day 6.

Nguyen Gets Set Up

Anh Van Nguyen opened the pot with a raise to 45,000 from early position. Both Steven Begleiter and Bradley Craig came along to a three-handed flop that brought {Q-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {2-Diamonds}. Craig checked first to act, and Nguyen continued out with another 75,000 chips. This time, Begleiter was the only caller as Craig ducked out of the way.

The turn card came the {3-Clubs}, and Nguyen checked this time. Begleiter slid 175,000 into the middle, and Nguyen came right along. The last card off the deck was the {6-Hearts}. Begleiter loaded 500,000 chips into his cannon and fired away. Nguyen again made the call, and Begleiter tabled {2-Clubs} {2-Spades}. The other hand went into the muck and the pot goes to the set of deuces.

Begleiter - 2,920,000
Nguyen - 1,225,000

Fair Play

There were a few raises and reraises over at table 22 between Blair Hinkle and Ryan Fair to get all of the money in preflop. Hinkle had Fair covered by 33,000 chips.

Hinkle held {A-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} and Fair held {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts}.

The board ran out {8-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {2-Clubs} and Hinkle was left with just 33,000 chips. Fair moved up to 2.2 million.

Zackey No Longer Top Dog

We're not sure what the preflop action was in a hand between Ian Tavelli and Warren Zackey. What we do know is that on a flop of {7-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {8-Clubs}, Tavelli managed to get his last 950,000 in the middle. Zackey, the chip leader at the time with more than 5 million chips, had chips to burn and called with an overpair and gutshot draw, {10-Diamonds} {10-Spades}. Tavelli also had an overpair -- the biggest overpair, {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds}. Tavelli's aces held up when the turn paired sixes, {6-Spades} and the river blanked {Q-Spades}.

With that loss, Zackey fell out of the number one chip spot. He now has 3.95 million chips. Tavelli is up to 2.4 million.
